Teaching methods:1) Pair work to practice discussing with classmates.2) Learn to describe a person from pictures to consolidate the target language.3) Task-based teaching method and cooperative method.IV. Lead-in T:Now I want to show you a picture.Please look at the screen.What can you see in the picture? What are they doing now? Who can get the basketball easily, the mother or the girl?(Let Ss have a discussion with their deskmates and then invite some Ss to share their ideas with the whole class)Step 3. Vocabulary Teach new words and phrases:curly,straight,tall,medium,height, be of medium height,thin, heavy.(Ill teach new words and expressions according to the pictures on thescreen and have Ss read and remember)Using the target sentences: What does he look like?What does she look like? She has long straight black hair. He has short curly brown hair. .Step 4. PresentationActivity 1aT:We have learned how to describe people, now please open your book to Page49.Look at the picture,you can see there are many people. Can you describe their looks correctly? Do 1a individually.(Give Ss some time to finish 1a and then check the answers)Step 5.Listening Activity 1bT:Now look at the picture again.Amy is looking for her friend,but there are too many people in the picture. Can you help Amy to find her friend quickly? Which letter?1.Play the tape for the first time,Ss find Amys friend.(h)2.Play the tape for the second time,Ss fill in the blanks in the picture above.3.Ask two Ss to give the answers.Step 6.PairworkActivity 1c 1.Ss look at the pictures on the screen and make conversations like this:A: Excuse me, who is he/she? B: He/she is A: What does he/she look like? B: He/ She is He/She has.2.Ss work in pairs to choose one picture to make a conversation using the target language.)3.A few minutes later, invite several pairs to act out their conversations.Step 7.CompetitionGroup work: 1. Ss work in three groups:G1, G2, G32. Three groups compete with each other to answer the questions.3. After competition, add up the scores.4.
