The Applications of Attributive Clauses in Gaokao湖南省地质中学 欧阳柳Teaching objectives: After the lesson, the students are supposed to: 1. Consolidate some general knowledge of the Attributive Clauses. 2. Learn how to use the knowledge of the Attributive Clauses to solve some problems and achieve higher marks in tests. 3. Improve their reading and writing ability. 4. Be more confident in English learning.Important point:How to use attributive clauses to solve some problemsDifficult point: Apply the attributive clauses to the language learning freelyMethodology: Inductive Method; Guided self-learning; Cooperative learningTeaching aid: Multi-mediaTeaching procedure: Step 1: leading-in: a tongue twister Practice it together. “What kind of shells are seashells according to the tongue twist?” “The shells she sells on the seashore are seashells.” Then bring about the topic: the applications of Attributive Clause Step 2: Attributive clauses in multiple choice Show the students 2 examples; Ask them to find the problem-solving method in this part: the antecedent-function in the clause-correct relative word(s). Let the students do the rest 6 first, Let them exchange their ideas ,then check the answers. Give any necessary explanations.Step 3: Attributive clause applications in Cloze test II. Tell the students how to differ coordinating conjunctions from subordinating conjunctions if the students raise such kind of problems. Step 4. Attributive clause applications in Reading comprehension (word guessing). Work in groups of four to guess some new words meanings with the help of attributive clauses.Step 5: Attributive clause applications in writing: Section A and Section CA. Discussion in groups: how to change a phrase or a sentence with an attributive clause into a 3-word phrase or sentence. B. How to apply attributive clauses to the writing to improve some sentence structures . Show them an article. Read it aloud together and let them discuss and try to improve it, using suitable attributive clauses if possible.Step 6: Consolidation(homework) If time permits, ask them to write an article by themselves.
