Unit6 Work quietly!Teaching content:Part A. Lets learn & Look and sayAnalysis of teaching material:This is the second period of Unit 6. We continue learning the present continuous tense. The teaching content takes full account of the characteristics and practical needs of grade five students. It designs real natural situation,to maximize the motivation and interest of students. Its closely related to the students actual life and practical learning in order to let them be interested in learning.Analysis of the students:Students of grade five have already had the ability to learn autonomously. Theyve basically mastered the use of the present tense. So when teaching, the teacher can make full use of word cards, picture shows, pair work and other forms of cooperation to create situations as much as possible, and guide the students to practice and master the form of special questions in the present continuous tense.Teaching aims:1. Be able to listen, speak, read and write the phrases “doing morning exercises”, “havingclass”, “eating lunch”, “reading a book” and “listening to music”.2. Be able to describe what someone is doing at a specific moment with the present continuous tense.3. Be able to finish the task in the part of “Look and say”.Teaching important & difficult points:Key points1. Be able to listen, speak, read and write the phrases “doing morning exercises”, “havingclass”, “eating lunch”, “reading a book” and “listening to music”.2. Be able to describe what someone is doing at a specific moment with the present continuous tense.Difficulties:Grasp the composition, meaning, and usage of the present continuous tense.Teaching preparation:PPT, and recording of related songs.Teaching process:Step 1 Warm up1. Oral English practiceT: Good morning/ afternoon, boys and girls.Ss: Good morning, teacher.T: Nice to see you again.Ss: Nice to see you, too.2. Play the song “My weekend”. Let the students sing together.Step 2 Preview1. The teacher says,” Just now, we enjoyed a song about our weekend. Now, lets play a game.” Then the teacher shows a student some word cards and let him/ her act. The other students guess what he/ she is doing.2. The teacher shows some pictures, and the students say a sentence.Step 3 Presentation1. Lets learn(1) Vocabulary T: A new day begins. Chen Jie is very busy. Lets look at the pictures and see what she is doing.Show the five pictures of this part, lead out these phrases: “doing morning exercises”, “havingclass”, “eating lunch”, “reading a book” and “listening to music”. Write the phrase on the blackboard and lead the students to read them for several times. Practice saying these phrases fluently. (2) Play the recording of the dialogue, the students read after the recording. Pay attention to the voice and the tongue.Play again, and read the dialogue aloud between boys and girls.(3) Work in pairs. Make a new dialogue according to the pictures and the phrases.2. Practice Look at the pictures and make dialogues, talking about things they are doing.Step 4 Consolidation and extension1. Turntable game: The teacher turns the turntable. When it stops, the students should make a sentence according to it.2. Look and sayLook at the pictures on the textbook. Talk about what they are doing.Step 5 Summary The teacher makes a summary of what weve learnt together with the students. The students can point out their difficulties.Step 6 Homework1. Read the text weve learned today. Pay attention to the voice and the tongue.2. Make a survey: What are your family members
