Revision.(1) Check the homework(2) Have a dictation of the words in the last unit to check the progress.Step 2 Presentation1. Lead-inT: Today we are going to learn the name of some animals. We will also learn how to talk about the ones we like and tell why we like them. Ask students to name as many animals as they can in English or show the pictures of animals they prepared before class. Write the list on the blackboard.T: Frist, please name the animals you know or use the pictures you have got.Some students give the animals. Then the students read after the teacher. Play attention to the pronunciation.(Show part of the animals and left students guess the animals)T: This time, lets look at some parts of the animals. Please guess what animals they are.2. Teach Activity 1a.T: please open your book and look at the picture. What animals are there?Point out the numbered list of words. Say each one and ask students to repeat.Then ask students to match each word with one of the picture. Later check the answer.3. Teach Activity 1b.T: Im going to play recording of three conversations. Listen carefully as you look at the words in 1a. Put a checkmark in front of the name of each animals you hear. Play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording the second time. This time students check each animals name they hear. Finally check the answers with the whole class.4. Teach Activity1c. T: Please pay attention to the example conversation in 1c. Ill ask two students to read it. Two students read. T: Do you have any question? Point out the description words in the box. Ask a student to read them aloud. Review the meaning of each word. Explain some language points.Step 3 Practice.1. Listening (Activities 2a 2b)(1) T: Now, lets do some listening practice. You need to listen carefully and write down the animals you hear on the line. Play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording the second time. This time students write animals name they hear. Finally check the answers with the whole class.(2) Point out the description words and countries. Ask a students to read the words.2. Pairwork (Activity 2c) First, lead students to read the instruction so that they can know what to do. Then put students into pairs to make conversations using the information in 2a. Give them enough time to do it. As they work, move around the room checking the progress and offering language support as needed. Later, invite several pairs to act out for the whole class.Step 4 Consolidation. Teach Activity 2d First, ask students to read the conversation silently to get the main idea of it. Then lead students to read together, call their attention to the pronunciation and intonation. Tell them they have to underline the difficult points as reading. Explain some language points in this period.Step 5 Summary In this period, weve learned some words of animals names and learned how to describe animals and express our feelings about them.
