A Lesson Plan 周作梅I. Teaching Content:Unit 3 This is my sisterII. Teaching Aim:1. Language aims: At the end of the class, students are able to 1) Learn and grasp the names of family members. 2) Learn to introduce and identify people. 3) Vocabulary: father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, parents, grandparents, 2. Ability aims: At the end of the class, students are able to 1) Ss can introduce their family members and others using the key vocabulary and the target language learned in the class.3. Moral aims: learn to love their family members。III. Teaching Important Points1. The names of family members2. The usage of demonstratives pronounsIV. Teaching Difficult PointsThe plural forms of the demonstratives pronouns.V. Teaching aidsFamily photos or pictures VI. Teaching MethodsFive steps modelVII. Teaching Procedure:Step 1 Warming up and Lead in : The teacher will show the students a card ,and there is a word- “family ” on the card, they have learnt this word last class .Through reviewing the word ,the teacher will tell the students a new meaning of the word :father and mother I love you .Because “father” “ mother” are new words, the teacher will tell them the meaning at last.This card and the new meaning would be puted on the left blackboard. And then , the teacher will talk about family members to lead them to the topic” This is my sister” , and the teacher will write the title down in the middle of the blackboard.Step2 presentation :1. The teacher will show two pictures of “家有儿女”.There are parents and their kids in one of the picture,there are two old people in anther picture.Because most of the students have saw this TV show ,they are familiar with those people. So the teacher will point out Xia Yu and ask all the students whats the relationship between Xia Yu and the other people in the picture, The students will answer in Chinese ,and the teacher will tell them the English and write those new words :grandfather , grandmother , father , mother , brother ,sister , on the left blackboard .Then ,the students will read those new words after the teacher.2. After learning the new words, the teacher will write down two sentence paterns “this is”and “ that is ”on the centre blackboard.,which they have learnt in last class. Then the students are required to use the sentence paterns and those new words on the left blackboard to make sentences , the teacher will ask 2 or 3 students to finish the task.3. The teacher will ask the all students how to say father and mother in one word?(“father& mother = ? ”).The students may answer in Chinese or “I dont konw”,then, the teacher will tell them the right answer: parents . the teacher adopt the same method to lead the students to learn grandparents, brothers, sisters. And write those words on the left blackboard .Then, the teacher will draw a family tree on blackboard based on those new words, and emphasize the relationship again to make all students clear.4. The teacher will introduce the new sentence paterns:these are,those areand write them down on the centre blackboard.Then, the teacher will make an example for each sentence patern and write them down on the blackboard. To make the students remember the new sentence pattern, the teacher will call some students to make sentences. On the right blackboard, the teacher will write down their sentences, and encourage them to find the distinction.Step 3 drills: The teacher will give the students a pairwork ,everyone practice with his patner. And show their family photos,and introduce their family members to each other by using the new sentences patterns.When time is up, the teacher will take 2 students photo and ask their patner”who is this ?”,and his patner should answer my question by using the sentence patterns on the blackboard. Step 4 practice :The teacher will play a game with some students :guess the missing word. Some words in the family tree would be covered by my card, and the students should guess the missing word .This game can help students remember the new words.Step 5 conclution and homework: The students will read the sentences after the teacher. It can help students remember the sentence structure and the new words.At last, the teacher will explain the new meaning of the “family”,and tell them to remember to show love to their parents.The homework is to write a letter to Xia Yu/Xia Xue/Liu Xing .And introduce their family members to him/her.
