Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?Section B 2a-2c教学设计西安市第七十中学 刘娟利【教材依据】 本教学设计依据的教材为人民教育出版社出版的教育部审定2013义务教教育教科书Go for it七年级下册。单元题目为:Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? Section B 2a-2c一、设计思路(一).指导思想。义务教育阶段的英语课程的总目标是:通过英语学习使学生形成初步的综合语言运用能力,促进心智发展,提高综合人文素养。Unit5 Section B 涉及对濒危动物的了解,引出濒危动物“大象”的语篇阅读,旨在培养学生动物保护意识和人文素养。2b活动让学生进行整体阅读并选最佳标题,意在培养学生快速阅读并归纳语篇中心的能力;2c渗透了构建思维导图的阅读策略的培养,帮助学生将抽象的零碎信息分类整理成与主体密切相关, 又相对独立的块状知识。这不仅有助于学生深入的理解语篇,抓住重要信息,而且能增强学生思维能力,提升注意力与记忆力,启发联想力和创造力。(二)学情分析与教学目标:学生在Unit5 Section A部分已经学过了用形容词描述动物,能够表达喜好并陈述原因。会用谜语的形式来描述并猜动物。了解一点濒危动物的信息,并能浅显说出怎样保护濒危动物。在本节课上通过提前搜集信息,课堂互相讨论,可以拓展思路,加深认识。七年级学生的阅读技能较欠缺,对思维导图的作用了解甚少。本课时的教学目标如下: 1. 语言知识目标:1) 能正确使用词汇smart, save, flag, forget, place, water, over, 2) 能正确使用以下常用表达:get lost, be in (great)danger, cut down, (be) made of, one of, killfor 3) 能认读以下词汇symbol, ivory,Thailand, Thai2. 语言能力目标:1) 快速阅读和归纳语篇信息的能力。2)能根据上下文语境猜出部分词汇的含义以及代词的指代。3)能根据阅读语篇内容构建思维导图,利用思维导图指导写作。4)能通过各种方式搜集有关动物的信息和资料。 3. 情感态度目标:了解大象的现实处境,唤起学生珍惜并保护濒危动物的意识和人文素养。4. 学习策略目标:构建思维导图的阅读策略的培养5. 文化意识目标:大象在泰国及其他国家的相关文化。(三)教学重点难点:重点是阅读技能的培养。难点是让学生把口语化表达转化为描述性语言,完成写作。根据思维导图复述文章,以及如何写思维导图去帮助写作。二教学环境与资源准备1. 老师制作多媒体课件。搜集关于泰国大象的信息,猎杀大象的图片,文段,视频(The Earth Song by Micheal Jackson)。2. 师生搜集中国濒临灭绝动物信息和世界上濒临灭绝动物信息及图片。3.学生在导学案上提前完成预习作业1)What animals are in great danger in China?2)How can we save the animals in danger?4教师设计新的思维导图,引导学生完成最后的写作。Lets Save Giant Pandas5教学方法 Task-based teaching approach Top-down reading Discussion三教学过程1. Revision and warming- up1)Guess a riddle about elephants It is big and it is grey.It has very big ears and a long nose. It is friendly . It likes eating grass and leaves. It is from Africa or Asia. What animal is it?2)Look at some pictures of elephants and talk about abilities of elephantsT: What can elephants do?Ss: Elephants can play soccer, basketball, music. They can also draw, sit and dance.设计意图:通过猜谜语,导入本课主要谈论的动物elephants,吸引学生注意力. 看快速闪过的图片谈论大象的活动,复习can 的用法,学习新词abilities。2. Talk about the titlesRead the following titles in 2b and predict the content of the passage with each title. What Is an Elephant? Come to Thailand Lets Save the Elephants Elephants Are Good PetsLearn three new words: Thailand,symbol, save by looking at the picture or making examples.Read the website article and check the best title for it. Learn a reading skill-to skim the beginning and the ending to get the main idea.设计意图:本环节有重要的阅读方法指导训练学生读题目预测文章内容的能力和快速阅读特别是读开头和结尾获取文章中心意思的能力。3. Skim the article and match each paragraph with its main idea.Para 1: Importance of elephantsPara2: Abilities of elephantsPara 3: The problems of elephants and ways to save设计意图:继续练习skimming 找段落大意的能力。初一学生学习能力有限,为了降低任务难度,设计成划线搭配的形式。4. Read pagraph1 and get the main idea. The main idea is the importance of elephants in Thailand.Compare two flags, find out the first flag of Thailand and talk about the reason.Talk about two pronouns our and this.设计意图:了解大象在泰国的重要性。通过比较两面旗子找出the first flag和回答问题,检查学生阅读获取对细节信息的能力。拓展补充泰国国旗的相关文化知识。5. Read paragraph2 and find the topic sentence. The topic sentence is Elephants are smart animals.( Abilities of elephants)Read again and discuss a question.Whats the Chinese for “an elephant never forgets”? Try to find examples for it.Learn another reading skill-Reading examples can help us understand some sentences.Learn the new phrases like never get lost/ remember places with food and water.设计意图:训练学生读并找主题句的能力。指导学生掌握阅读技巧通过读例子理解一些难的句子。6. Read pagraph3 and answer questions. Question1. What does the writer tell us ?Elephants are in great danger and we must save them.Question2. How many elephants are there today?Question3. Why are elephants in great danger? How can we save them?The students learn the phrases like cut down/ not buy things made of ivory.设计意图:通过两遍阅读,了解段落大意再回答细节问题。引出fact和figure两个单词,为后面的mind map做铺垫。通过图片展示人类猎杀大象和买卖象牙制品,激起学生保护大象的欲望。学生印象深刻学习新词,cut down ,kill for ivory , things made of ivory, lose homes.7. Talk in groups about what people can do to help the animals in danger .Talk about animals in danger in China. The students can talk in Chinese or English, and show their pictures of the animals in danger in China.Watch a short video from Earth Song by Michael Jackson . Students talk about what they see and how they feel. Then discuss in groups about what we can do to help the animals in danger.设计意图:知识拓展交流,学生展示自己了解搜集的中国濒危动物的情况。情感调动,通过观看视频Earth Song by Michael Jackson使学生想保护动物的愿望更强烈。付诸行动,小组合作讨论如何保护濒危动物。8. Complete the mind map The students try to remember as much information as possible when reading the article again. Talk about and complete the mind map according to what they remember. Tell the students to look at the map in 2c. There are four boxes around the word Elephant. The first box is about the importance of the elephants in Thailand. The second box is about the abilities of the elephants.The third box is about the facts and figures of the elephants. The last box is about how to save the elephants. Work in groups of four, one student retells one part of the article.设计意图:语言输出,根据思维导图复述文章。小组合作分工,不同层次学生完成难以度不同的复述任务。10. Discuss how to write a mind map.First, write down the main idea of the article.Second, think about and write down the key words or sentences for each part.Then, fill in the details.设计意图:指导学生分析怎样写思维导图。为接下来的写作活动做准备。11.
