Knowledge objectives:1) learn some opposite words: tall-short, thin-heavy, long-hair-short hair, quietly-loudly2) use some expressions correctly: Tina is taller than Tara. Sam has longer hair than Tom. She also sings more loudly than Tara. 2. Ability objectives:The students will be able to(1) extract some information about person from listening materials.(2) talk about the person they are familiar with.(3) communicate and co-operate with others to complete tasks.3. Moral objectives:Describe the person with comparative degree of adjective and find the difference.【Key points】1) more +adj 2) than【Difficult points】Compare people using different types of sentences.【Teaching aids】Multi-media, a tape recorder.【Teaching procedures】Step 1: Lead-inAsk Ss to write down as many adj. about people as possible. Check the adj. Ss write and we can group them into some pairs, like: Section A 1atall - short; thin - heavy, long hair - short hair, calm - wild Give Ss an example by comparing Old Henry and Santa Claus. e.g. Santa Claus is older than Henry. Henry is taller than Santa Claus.Step 2: Presentation1. Ask Ss to see the picture about apples and pears to see the differences. Then compare some of their things with each other.e.g. The apples are bigger than the pears. Summarize the Comparatives. A + be(V) + 比较级 + than + B.2. Do the exercise 1a.match each word with its opposite.3. Check the answers. Let students find the same part between loudly and quietly.Step 3: Practice Listening 1. There are three pairs of twin brothers and sisters in the picture. But whos whose twin brother and whos whose twin sister? Look at their names carefully and tell me the answers.1. Why do you say Tom and Sam are twins? Why are Tina and Tara twin sisters? Because both Tara and Tina have “T” and “a”. Because Tom and Sam both have three letters in their names and they both have an “m”.3. Then listen to the recording. Ask Ss to number the twins.4. Check the answers. Step 4: Production1. Point out the sample conversation in activity 1c.Say, now work with a partner. Make your own conversation about the twins. Ask several pairs to say one or more of their conversations.2. Let Ss read the conversations after the teacher.3. Then let some pairs act out their conversations in front of the class.
