It is an article about a cartoon character-Mickey Mouse. Many students have watched some cartoon films about this famous mouse, so it is more interesting for them to know much information about Mickey and the man behind him. By reading this article, the students can improve their ability of communicating and writing.2 Teaching aims1) Language goals: A: Teach students some useful phrases and new wordsB: Teach students how to understand the long passage2) Ability goals:Improve students ability of expressing their own opinions in English.3) Emotion goal:Guide student to cherish our own culture, form a correct idea about the Chinese culture and cultivate the students cross-cultural awareness.3 The difficult pointsSome long sentences and the sentence structures, like:Have in common, be ready to do sth, try one best etc.4 Teaching methodsReading and communicative methodsTeaching presentationsStep 1 Greeting and reviewingGreet the students as usual and do some exercises to help them have a quick revision about what they learned in last class.Step 2 Lead-inAsk students to look at the two pictures on the screen and let students guess who they are. For example,T: Can you guess-who is he?Ss: yes, I can. He is Mickey Mouse.T: what do you know about him?Ss: He is a famous cartoon.T: And do you know him?Ss: He is Walt Disney.T: Yes, you are right. How clever you are! Ok, lets begin our class, please open your book.Step 3 ReadingGive students five minutes to read this article quickly and then ask them to find out the phrases on the screen. During looking for these phrases, students can have a main idea about this article.Step 4 2bRead this passage once again, and then let the students fill in the charts.Step 5 Listening Broadcast the listening material for the students and then there are five questions waiting for them.Step 6 Voice your opinionsGive students several minutes to form their own opinions on Mickey and Walt Disney.
