Give others some useful advice in different ways.Teaching aims Knowledge objective1. Get students to learn some useful new words and expressions in the listening materials. 2. Let students learn how to talk about others problems.3. Enable students to give some useful advice in different ways. Ability objective1. Develop students listening ability by getting special information and taking notes while listening.2. Train students speaking ability by using the information they learnt to show their knowledge. 3. Train students writing ability by writing a letter. Moral objective1. Enable students to know more about talking about problems and giving advice.2. Develop students sense of group cooperation and pair work. Teaching processStep 1 Leading-inShow the students two pieces of video and ask them some questions: 1. Whats wrong with the students?/Whats the matter with the students? 2. What should he/she do ? The answers to these questions will show if the students understand how to talk about problems or not. The videos will lead the students to the topic of this lesson- talk about problems and give advice.Step 2 Pre-Listening Show students some new words in the listening materials to sweep up the hinders in listening and help students understand the listening text more easily. 1.Whats wrong? = Whats the matter? 2. allow allow sb. to do sth. 3. enough sleep 4.free time 5. hang out 6. after-school class 7.fight with sb. 8. call sb. up Step 3 Listening Task ( passage A )Task 1 Listen to the text and try to fill in the blanks. Ask students to listen to the text and try to fill in the blanks according to listening text. After listening, they can show their answers to the class. Boy :You look really tired. Whats _ _? Girl : I studied until midnight last night so I didnt get enough_ Boy : Why _ _ go to sleep earlier tonight? You can start studying earlier. Girl : But I have two _classes today. So I can only start studying after dinner. Boy : Maybe you _ tell your parents that you cant do so many things. Girl : I did,but they think its _ that I take more after-school classes. A: Why dont you .?/ You should . Step 4 Discussion Task 1 Show students some more pictures of others problems. Let them try to talk about these problems and give their advice in different personal pronoun. Task 2 PairworkAsk students to discuss with their partners and try to make their own conversations by using the following information. Step 5 Listening ( passage B)Task 1. Listen to the following passage and fill in the blanks.Ask students to listen to the text and try to fill in the blanks according to listening text. After listening, they can show their answers to the class. Girl : Hey, Peter, whats_? Boy : I had a fight with my best friend. What _ _ do? Girl : Well, you _ write him a letter. Step 6 Writing Task 1 Discussion Ask students two questions and let them discuss with their partners.1. Do you feel stressed out sometimes? 2. How do you lower your stress ? Then show students some pictures about how to lower the stress. Task 2 Writing Show students a topic: Tom is a student in Grade 8. He always feels stressed out in his study.
