How about your winter holidays?Ss: Wonderful/ Exciting.T: Great. Now, lets start the study in the new semester.Step 2 Presentation1. Teach Activity 1a.This activity introduces the key vocabulary.Bring out a doll. Teach the words of body parts. Read the words to students and ask them to repeat.Ask students to open their books, turn to page 1 and look at the picture. Then ask a student to read the list of thirteen names of body parts.Have them complete the activity individually. Then check the answers.Call students attention to some language points and analyse them.2. Teach Activity 1b.This activity gives students practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation.Act out an illness. Then show other new words on the blackboard. Read the new words on the blackboard. Read the new words to students and ask them to repeat. Make sure every student knows the meanings and can read them.Play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Then play it again. This time ask students to write a number in front of each picture. Finally, correct the answers.3. Teach Activity 1c.This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language.Teach students more words of illness. For example, have a cold, have a fever, have a headache, have a stomachache, have a toothache, have a sore back, have a sore throat. Then ask two students to read the sample conversation in the box to the class.T: Work with a partner. Make your own conversations about the picture like the sample.Give them several minutes to do this work. After they finish this task, ask some pairs to present their conversations to the whole class.Step 3 Practice1. Teach Activity 2a.This activity provides listening practice using the target language.First, ask students to look at the five pictures. Each picture illustrates one of the conversations. Make sure the students understand the listening task.Play the recording for the students to listen carefully and number them in the right order.Check the answers together then.2. Teach Activity 2b.This activity still provides listening practice using the target language.First read the eight items to the students and ask them to repeat.Make sure that the students understand the listening task.T: Well hear five conversations. People are talking about health problems they have and are getting advice. Draw lines to match the problems with the advice.Play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Play it again. Students finish the task. Then correct the answers. 3. Teach Activity 2c.This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language.Ask students to read the sample dialogue. Then practice the conversation in pairs. Take turns having the problems and giving advice.Lead students to make their own conversations using the information in 2a and 2b. Have them work in pairs. After they practice a while, have several pairs of students act out for the class.Step 4 Consolidation.Teach Activity 2d.T: The following is a conversation between Mandy and Lisa. First, you need to read it carefully and underline some difficult language points you cant understand. Then Ill invite someone to tell me what they are talking about and explain the language point. Clear?Ss: Yes.T: OK. Do it now.Give students several minutes to read the conversation. Later, invite several pairs to act out the conversation.
