Sentence: Whats the matter? I have a sore back. Whats the matter with Tom? He has a cold What should he do? He should/shouldnt. 3ObjectivesBy the end of the class, students should be able to:3.1 Instructional Objectives1) Recognize and know the pronunciations and meanings of the following vocabularies by showing pictures, situations, word-formation rules: Matter,sore,foot,stomachache,throat,fever,eyes,arm,back,hand,head,leg, mouth, nose, tooth . . 2) Be able to talk about health problems and accidents by using the following sentences: Whats the matter? I have a sore back. Whats the matter with Tom? He has a cold. 3.) Be able to give advice by using the word“should” and “shouldnt”.3.2 Educational Objectives1) Strengthen their motivation and interest in learning English through the interesting class activities;2) Build up the cooperative spirit by pair working and group working;3) Use the cognitive strategies to learn new words.3.3 Personal Objectives The teacher tries to be more passionate and create an active atmosphere for classes.4. Focal Points1) Students are able to use the listening skills to get the main idea about the listening materials2) Students are able to talk about health problems and accidents 3) Students are able to give advice.5. Difficult Points1) Students are able to talk about health problems. 2) Students are able to get the main idea about the listening materials with the new-learnt knowledge.6 .Procedures and Time Allotment 6.1 Getting Students Ready for Learning(2 minutes) Teacher greets students with simple communication. 6.2 Revision (5minutes)Students review the topic about the parts of body, and learn new word: shoulder, stomach ,foot, neck,.Purpose: to arouse students interest by showing the picture of a girl and stimulate the prior knowledge about food students have known.The teaching method: Computer-assistant Instruction (use visual picture through ppt) 6.3 Pre-listening (6 minutes)Step 1 Vocabulary presentation. The teacher shows some pictures about body; at the same time, students learn some new words. The teacher pays some attention to students pronunciation. Then the teacher leads students to talk about likes and dislikes by asking questions.Purpose: to prepare the vocabularies for understanding the listening materials to teach students use cognitive strategies to learn new words, arouse studentsinterest in the topic of body and draw on students existing knowledge. The teaching method: Computer-assistant Instruction (use visual pictures in teaching new words); Grammar-Translation Method (use translation between the native language and target language in teaching new words)The specific way of teaching: showing pictures, word-formation rules, translation, teachers explaining.Step2: Play a game of “listen and touch” 1) Divide the students into 8 groups. 2) The teacher speak out the English of the body and the students who touch their body rightly and quickly can get the point.Step3.Present the picture of Yao Ming and write down the body parts according to the initial.Step4. Present the sentences about the health problems and accidents. Students should be able to answer the questions correctly.Step5.Make a conclusion about the using of “-ache” and “sore” in health problems.6.4 While-listening (20 minutes)Step1 Skimming the task of 1ain section A and pay attention to the key words.Step2 Listen to the tape and finish the task of IbStep3 Skimming the task of 2a in section A and pay attention to the key words.Purpose: develop students the listening skill for the specific information The teaching method: Computer-assistant Instruction (use visual pictures to teach new words)Step4 Listen to the tape and finish the task of 2a and 2b.6.5 Post-listening (10 minutes)Step1 Students read and understand the listening materials under the guide of the teacher.Step2.Students fill in the blanks of the listening materials Step3. Students review the contents we learnt today.Step4.Students role-play the conversation.Step5.Show time The students role-play the conversation in front of the class and the best actor can get the point.6.6 Assigning Homework (4 minutes)Tom has a fever and his brother Jack has a cough and cold. Make a conversation to give them some advice. and write it down on the paper 4. Self-evaluation7. Self-evaluation By the end of the class, most students can use the listening skills to get the main idea about the listening materials and talk about health problems and give advice by using the target sentences. Most of the students can finish the listening task and the atmosphere of the class is active. However, there are still some problems. First, its a little difficult for some students in using of “-ache” and “sore” in health problems. So, next class, the use of “-ache” and “sore” should be emphasized. Then, most students can get the key words when they are listening but they still have some problems when they meet long sentences in listenin
