Section A 1a-1cTeaching content analysis:The language goal of this unit is mainly about describing the weather and describing what you are doing by using the present progressive tense. This is the first period of teaching. The main teaching task is to help students to master some words about weather and learn how to ask and answer about weather by using “ Hows the weather (in)? Its ”.Teaching aims and demands: 1.Knowlege objects Learn and master some words about weather such as rain, rainy, sunny, windy, snow, snowy, cloudy and some other words.Learn and master how to ask and answer about weather by using “ Hows the weather (in)? Its ”.Continue to master and practice using the present progressive tense to describing what people are doing and use present progressive tense to describe these two kinds of weather “rainy” and “snowy”.2.Ability objectsTrain students how to use “ Hows the weather (in)? Its ” to talk about the weather freely.Train students listening and speaking skills.3.Moral objectsLead students to pay attention to the weather of different cities and different countries to form a kind of environmental protection awareness and simply know the difference of greeting people between China and some western countries by talking about weather to increase friendship.Teaching key points and difficulties:Learn and master how to ask and answer about weather by using “ Hows the weather(in)? Its ” and continue to master and practice using the present progressive tense.Teaching and learning methods:Task-based language teaching , multimedia-assisted teaching, cooperative learningTeaching procedure:Step 1 RevisionShow some pictures about what people are doing on the screen and ask students to answer “Whats he/she doing? or What are they doing?” to help students to review the present progressive tense learned in Unit 6.Step 2 Lead-inPlay a song about weather , ask students to listen and enjoy it.Design intension: By listening to a song about weather, help students to be familiar with what they will learn today and stimulate students interest and passion in learning.Step 3 PresentationShow some pictures about weather. Ask students to look at the pictures and learn some words about weather such as rainy, cloudy, windy, sunny, snowy with the help of the pictures.Show another picture, ask students to match the words “rainy, windy, sunny, snowy, cloudy” on the left of the picture with their word-meaning pictures on the right of the picture to master the words and their meanings correctly.Step 4 ConsolidationShow some more pictures about different weather in real life, lead students to learn how to use “Hows the weather? (=Whats the weather like?) Its ” to ask and answer about the weather . Ask students to pay attention to these two kinds of answers “Its rainy/raining. Its snowy/snowing.” We can use present progressive tense to answer how the weather is now, especially about the weather of rainy or snowy days.Show the picture in 1a on the book. Ask students to match the words with the pictures and check the answers.Step 5 Listening and speaking practiceActivity 1b. Ask students to read the city names in 1b, point out and emphasize these three cities such as Moscow, Toronto, Boston.Show the picture in 1a on the book again, tell students they will listen to four conversations about how the weather is in these cities, ask students to listen carefully, complete the task and check the answers.Replay the conversations and ask the students to read after the recording and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Role play the conversations in pairs. Activity 1c Pair work Ask students to imagine they are in one of the places in 1a and make conversations to talk about the weather with their friends on the phone to practice the target language in pairs. Weather report Show a map, ask students to look at the map carefully and report the weather like a weather reporter on TV. Show another map and ask students to practice how to report the weather.Step 6 SummaryLet students summarize the words about weather, how to use “Hows the weather (in )? Its” to ask and answer about weather, and focus on the usage of present progressive tense in describing these two kinds of weather “rainy” and “snowy”.Step 7 Homework Ask students to make new conversations talking about different weather in different cities with their partners after clas
