Ask students to look at the pictures and learn some words about weather such as rainy, cloudy, windy, sunny, snowy with the help of the pictures.Show another picture, ask students to match the words “rainy, windy, sunny, snowy, cloudy” on the left of the picture with their word-meaning pictures on the right of the picture to master the words and their meanings correctly.Step 4 ConsolidationShow some more pictures about different weather in real life, lead students to learn how to use “Hows the weather? (=Whats the weather like?) Its ” to ask and answer about the weather . Ask students to pay attention to these two kinds of answers “Its rainy/raining. Its snowy/snowing.” We can use present progressive tense to answer how the weather is now, especially about the weather of rainy or snowy days.Show the picture in 1a on the book. Ask students to match the words with the pictures and check the answers.Step 5 Listening and speaking practiceActivity 1b. Ask students to read the city names in 1b, point out and emphasize these three cities such as Moscow, Toronto, Boston.Show the picture in 1a on the book again, tell students they will listen to four conversations about how the weather is in these cities, ask students to listen carefully, complete the task and check the answers.Replay the conversations and ask the students to read after the recording and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Role play the conversations in pairs.
