His mother took little active interest in the education of her young children other than to have them taught by tutors brought from England.e. He began school at age 14.f. Montgomery attended St Pauls School and the Royal Military College.Life events:1. On graduation a. he joined the 1st Battalion, b. He joined the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in September 1908 as a second lieutenant and his team arrived to India later that year.c. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1910.2. In the First World Ward. Montgomery became the captain of his team.e. In 13th October 1914, he was severely wounded when he turned the enemy out of their trenches with the bayonet.f. After recovering in early 1915, he was appointed to be brigade major.3. Between the warsa. Montgomery served as brigade major of 17th Infantry Brigade in Ireland and engaged in combating the Irish Rebellion when he graduated from Staff College in December 1920.b. He was promoted to major-general in October 1938 and took command of the 8th Infantry Division in Palestine and he quashed an Arab revolt. d. Montgomery was appointed commander North African Campaign on November 1942 in order to save the failure.b. Montgomery commanded Allied to beat the Rommel German army in the Second Battle of El Alamein in October 1942.c. In March 1943, Montgomery took command of Allied to clear out of the German army from the North Africa in the Tunisia.d. Montgomery leaded Britain Army to attack Sicily and seized this island.e. During the autumn of 1943, Montgomery commanded the Eighth Army to land on the mainland of Italy.f. Montgomery returned to Britain in January 1944 to take command of the 21st Army Group to the invasion of Normandy.g. Montgomery put forward the Operation Market Garden in September 1944, but this plan was poorly planned. So this plan was an unsuccessful Allied military operation and many solders went to death.h. After the Operation Market Garden was failed, Montgomery Continued to command of the 21st Army Group to advance to the Rhine until German forces gave in.i. On 4 May 1945, Montgomery accepted the Surrender of German forces in northern Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.5. After the war a. Montgomery became the C-in-C of the British Army of the Rhine.b. He was created 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein in 1946.c. He was chief of the imperial general Staff from 1946 until 1948d. He created the North Atlantic Treaty Organizations European forces in 1951.e. In 1958, Montgomery retired and his age was nearly 71.f. In 1962, Montgomery visit to China and declared himself impressed by the Chinese leadership.g. Montgomery died from unspecified causes in 1976 at his home at the age of 88 and he was interred in the Holy Cross Churchyard.Legacy A statue of Montgomery can be found outside the Ministry of Defence in Whitehall. Montgomery portrait hangs in the National Portrait Gallery.
