I love working with kids!(Text 10)Last night I went to see Bennie, the musical which has just opened in the Albert Theatre in London. There is of course already both a book and a film called Bennie, about a child who becomes a famous singer. I enjoyed the book so I was excited when I heard about the film. I was disappointed, however, when I finally saw it because unfortunately they managed to make all the amusing parts of the book seem serious. It was also long and slow. I came to the musical without much hope but it was more entertaining than the film. Theyve had to change parts of the story but I really thought it was as good as the book. Apart from the actor whose voice wasnt as strong as the others, I thought the acting was good. Although the theatre wasnt very large, the music was perfect. Most of the parts in musicals Ive seen recently have been for young actors. However, in Bennie, I was surprised 1/3 of the people on stage were at least 40 years old or over and some of them were very well known. This was a great advantage to the production. I noticed that quite a few people didnt buy the ticket. They thought it was too expensive. But I think it was worth the money. Its really a great musical to enjoy.第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。AHappiness increases when we experience more positive emotions throughout the day. Fredrickson, a leader in the field of psychology, identifies 10 positive emotions, including joy, interest, hope, pride, amusement, inspiration, love and so on. How often we experience these positive emotions compared to negative emotions in a day affects not only our mood, but also our physical health. He has discovered that those who have a 31 ratio of positive to negative emotions on a daily basis are happier and healthier.Sadly, most people, even those who consider themselves positive people, are far below that ratio. The good news is that you can learn to increase your ratio of being positive, which leads to greater happiness, health and success.Research shows that by increasing positive emotions, we become more creative, perform better at tasks, and have better relationships. The most exciting finding is that we now have proof that selfgenerated positive emotions can improve our physical health.Nevertheless, we dont want to get rid of all negative feelings. Negative emotions are proper and helpful sometimes. Its appropriate to feel sad about the loss of a loved one. Anger often pushes us into action to improve a situation or correct a mistake. However, if you find yourself waiting impatiently when the driver in front of you doesnt instantly notice the light turns green, or if you find yourself scolding your kids for laughing too loud while you are on the phone, you are having negative feelings in your daily life too often. Then you should step back and analyze those feelings, and turn them around.【解题导语】研究表明:积极的情感不仅能增加幸福感,而且对身体健康也有好处。但是负面的情绪也并非一无是处,有时候也会起帮助作用。所以我们要学会调控自己的心情。21. The robot, named Gordon, is not exactly an Einstein but it surely represents the great progress weve made in combining biology and technology. Gordon relies on a dish with about 60 electrodes to pick up electrical signals produced by the brain cells. The brain drives the robots movements. Every time the robot nears an object, signals are directed to stimulate(刺激) the brain by means of the electrodes, the researchers explained in a statement released today by the University of Reading in England. In response, the brain drives the robots wheels left and right, so that it moves around in an attempt to avoid hitting objects. The robot has no additional control from a human or a computer. “This new research is greatly exciting as firstly the biological brain controls its own moving robot body and secondly we will be able to study how the brain learns and remembers its experiences, ” said the universitys Kevin Warwick, “It will move our understanding forward of how brains work, and could have a great effect on many areas of science and medicine. ”The researchers aim to get the robot to learn, by using different signals as it moves. That might allow the researchers to see how memories manifest themselves in the brain when the robot revisits familiar areas. They hope the work will eventually lead to a better understanding of diseases like Alzheimers, Parkinsons and stroke. “This project is really a great step forward. Hopefully we can use that to answer a series of questions that scientists are facing today, ”said Ben Whalley, a member of the university. What effect may the research have on medicine according to the researchers?ATo advance the development and application of robots. BTo develop robots that can treat human diseases. Obviously there are some pretty big differences between our behavior and theirs in this respect. Most Chinese children seem to get whatever they want, from ice creams, sweets and toys to endless attention from the adults around them. Is this a sort of spoiling or love?I wonder. Most westerners would think it is a sort of spoiling rather than love. We think love means educating your children and bringing them up to lead an independent life. That includes learning to accept the fact that he cant get everything he wants. As an adult, he will not always get the quite expensive car he hunts for; she will not always manage to acquire the beautiful dress she longs for. So we try to teach our children early to cope with the disappointment of not getting what they want. I find too much such kind of love for the children can actually spoil them. To my surprise, it seems that the life of a Chinese child is rather hard.Without doubt, the child is the very center of a whole circle of adults, but on the other hand he or she is also expected to start studying according to adults wishes. Many children of my sons age take piano lessons, painting classes and even English lessons. It looks as if Chinese adults think that just playing without learning anything is a waste of time. So in th
