At the same time it lays the foundation for the next lesson.Such a topic is related to daily life, so it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English. .Teaching Goals: 1. Knowledge aims:1)New words:repair,broken, wheel2)Phrases:fix up, give away , take after, run out of3)sentences:I gave away my bike to a childrens home.2. Ability aims:1).Train the students listening, speaking reading, and writing skills.2) Train students communicative competence. 3. Moral aims: No matter how little the power is,its still a kind of support.III.Teaching Importances:Key words and target language.Teaching Difficulties Make sentences with the phrases and talk about how to raise money for Jimmy.V.Teaching Methods:Communicative approach. Pair work. Group work. Task-basedVI.Teaching Aids:CAI, Post-it notesVII.Teaching Procedures:Step 1. Preparation1. Warming-up1) Free talk like this: How are you? Nice to meet you! How is the weather? and so on. 2.Review Brainstorm:What can we do to help the world?Step 2. PresentationPresent new words and phrases:wheel,broken, repair,fix up, give away , take after, run out ofDrills: practice the new words in different formsPresent 1a.Match the sentences with similar meanings.Then read them together.Step 3. PracticeGroup work Present 1b.Match the phrasal verbs with the nouns.Then make sentences with the phrases. Ask students to discuss in group first,when students practice ,the teacher can help them. Then ask two pairs to act it.Step 4. Listening Before -listening. Use the pictures to tell the story of Jimmy.While-listening Play the recording of 1c the first time. Listen and number the pictures 1- 4 in the correct order. Students finish 1c.if necessary,play the recording the second time. Then check the answers. At last,Ask students to describe the pictures in order.Finish 1d Play the recording of 1d. Circle T for true or F for false.Check the answers and correct the answers.Post-listening. Listen again and fill in the blanks. Let students find more details. Jimmy is a _ boy. He likes bikes very much. He often finds or buys old bikes that nobody wants.
