课堂教学设计 Unit3- Lesson 4 Christmas 鹤壁市外国语中学 乔香娜 一、Analysis of the teaching material This is the fourth lesson of Unit 3 and it is a text about memories of Christmas. Students will get some information about activities and customs of celebrating Christmas in English-speaking countries as well as learn some words about Christmas through reading text. Besides, students are supposed to learn to briefly introduce Chinese festivals and talk about their memories of festivals in time order by paragraph-planning in both oral and written forms. As a reading class, the key point is to let students learn some words about Christmas, get important information from the text and understand the detailed information in it. Whats more, by imitating the text, students are expected to talk about their childhood memories of festivals. For example, inspire students to think of some words about the Spring Festival. Then use the words and the writing method to write an article named “My memories of the Spring Festival”. 二、教学内容 Topic : Memories of the Spring Festival (reading period) Words:snowman, Father Christmas, Christmas tree, presents, balloon, Christmas stocking, decorations, calendar, carol service, pudding, turkey, Christmas cake, stay awake, put up, carry on. Method:learn words by showing pictures and competition; Learn how to talk about memories in time order 三、Teaching aims:(1)Build up an area of vocabulary related to Christmas. (2)Read and understand a passage about memories of Christmas. (3)Talk about their childhood memories of the Spring Festival. 四、Key and difficult points (1)Words and expressions:snowman, Father Christmas, Christmas tree, presents, balloons, Christmas stockings, decorations, calendar, carol service, pudding, turkey, Christmas cake, stay awake, put up, carry on. Sentence patterns:a. We tried to stay awake as long as possible to see Father Christmas (2)Get the students to acquire the skill of doing the multiple-choice exercise. (3)Let the students cherish festivals in their life五、Teaching procedures: Step I Lead-in (Greetings) T: Now lets enjoy a song.(show the students the video) T: Do you like the song?S: . T: Hearing the song, which festival can you think of?S: T: That is just what we are going to learn today (show the learning objects of this class). (show a picture of my daughters decorating a Christmas tree and ask students to help her get everything about Christmas ready. Thus, introduce the new words. ) T: Have you remembered all the new words? S: T: Lets check and have a competition.(Some students shall come to the board and pat the picture of the word as soon as the teacher speak it out. The faster one will be the winner) 设计说明图文声像并用,加深学生对单词的记忆;通过竞争的形式让学生记忆单词, 让学生在紧张而又轻松地掌握词汇,在愉快的氛围中积极参与课堂教学,活跃课堂气氛,为进一步理解课文做好准备。 Step Listen to the tape and circle out the words they learned just now. 设计说明本环节是为了加深学生刚学单词的记忆,同时,听录音的过程中学生也能够对文章由一个大致的了解 Step Read the text quickly and do the true or false questions and explain why. 1: We told Father Christmas what we wanted by sending e-mails. F 设计说明以判断对错的方式让学生练习skimming(略读)阅读技能,题的设计顺序和文章结构保持一直,学生在迅速捕捉文章细节信息的同时,还能理清文章脉络,从整体上理解文章,为careful reading和homework的仿写奠定基础。 Step Careful-reading: Read the text carefully and do exercise 3. (After reading, show them pictures and check.) Before Christmas Eve: wrote a letter; opened the new year calendar, sing Christmas carols.On Christmas Eve: put up Christmas trees; put the stockings at the end of the beds. On Christmas Day: went to church; have Christmas cake设计说明通过阅读及对练习3的完成,之后全班核对答案这一过程,学生对文章结构有了更清晰的认识。学生完成阅读任务的同时尝试记忆与圣诞节有关的活动,注重学生对课文的复习巩固,提高学习效率。另外,提醒学生关注动词和名词组合构成的动词短语,这也是本科的一个学习重点。 Step With the information on the blackboard, students finish the summary of the text.Summary for students of level C Before Christmas, my sister and I _(write) to Father Christmas telling him what we wanted. After lunch, we played cards and eating. 设计说明 本环节根据难以程度的不同设计了三个层次,分别针对学困生,中等生和优秀生。设计的出发点是让所有学生都参与进来,采取自助餐的形式,根据自己的能力选择难度适宜的summary,避免出现任务太难或太易而导致一部分学生放弃完成的现象,从而让所有人都能对课文有一个更深刻的了解。此外,summary中我设计的空都是在练习三中出现的动词短语
