It is related to our daily life, so it is helpful to raise the students learning interests. The purpose of this unit is to tell students students how to describe the animals character. The students in Grade 3 have learnt some related information about this topic, so it will be easier to lead in the topic. The analysis of the students: The students in Grade 3 have learnt something about animals, they are active and eager to get in touch with new things. They are willing to express and say something around their life.Teaching aims: Knowledge aims: 1. Students can listen, comprehend and read the dialog fluently.2. Students can listen, read and say these sentences Look at the elephant. Wow, it has a long nose. Ability aims:1. Students will be able to use the sentence patterns to describe the character of an animal . Emotional aims:By the end of this lesson, try to1. Encourage students to read, ask and answer about the animal they like. 2. Cultivate students to develop their ability of speaking. Teaching key and difficult points:Key points: Students can listen, read , and say these sentences Look at the elephant. Wow, it has a long nose. And can use the sentence patterns to describe the animal they like in a real situation.Difficult points: Get the main idea of the plural form when they describe an animal like:“It has long ears and short legs.”Teaching methods: Task-based language teaching method, communicative approach, situational approachTeaching aids:PPT, CD, Some pictures about an animal.Teaching procedures:Step 1: Warm-up1. Greetings and free talk.Eg: Good afternoon, everyone. Nice to see you again. 2. Show the picture about this unit and lead in. 3. Revision of “Lets do” , listen, read and do.Step 2: Lets guess Have students guess a riddle about an animal.Step3: Presentation1. Presentation of the new sentences.1) . Show the explicit information about the ostrich.2) . Read and repeat the sentences.3) . Look and fill in the blanks. 2. Practice 1). Game: Sharp eyes . Let the students look at the 5 pictures carefully, then have one picture disappear quickly and ask students to answer which picture is missing. 2). Game: Look and sayShow some pictures about animals, then make a description about them.Teacher first makes demonstration about her picture, then have students do this task one by one.Eg: Look at my . It has . Step 4: Consolidation and Extension 1. Enjoy a short dialog , have students watch the video first. 2. Watch it again and repeat after the tape. (Make some explanations if necessary) 3. Read and repeat again, then have students role out the dialog in groups.Homework: 1. Read and repeat the dialog. 2. Complete your exercise-book. 3. Describ
