They are very lovely,many people like them very much. Do you like them?There are only over two thousand pandas in China. We should play a part in saving the animals. Do you want to know what the difficulties are?And how do people protect the animals?If you want to know the answers,lets read the article together.Step3. Show and clear the knowledge goals. T: Who can read todays learning goals? Reading. 1.Scan the article to find out what the numbers mean. 10: Adult pandas eat 10 kilos of bamboo a day. 12: Adult pandas spend more than 12 hours a day eating. 300: About 300 pandas live in zoos or research centers in China and other countries. 2000: Scientists say there are now fewer than 2000 pandas living in the forests. 2.Scan the article again and write short answers to the questions. What is Lin Weis job? A panda keeper. What do the baby pandas have for breakfast? Milk. Why are pandas endangered? Because pandas dont have many babies, and the babies often die of illnesses and dont live very long. On the other hand, as the forests get smaller and other human activities cause more problems, pandas cant find enough to eat and theyre having fewer babies.What does the education program in Chengdu do? It teaches children about pandas and other endangered wild animals.Why are scientists doing research?Because they want to better understand the habits of pandas. 3.Read the article again and complete the sentences using words and phrases from the passage. The panda keepers at the Chengdu Research Base are awake early in the morning to prepare breakfast for the baby pandas. In fact , pandas have become so popular that they are now a symbol of China. Adult pandas do not have babies very often , and some of the babies only live for a short time because of illnesses. A special program in Chengdu teaches children about why pandas are endangered and how to save them. The Chinese government is helping save the pandas. Scientists also want to better understand the habits of pandas. 4.Read the article again and then talk about the key points in small groups.There be sb./sth. doing sth.意为“有某人/某物在做某事”。 eg:There are some boys standing on the playground.another基数词名词复数基数词more名词复数,意为“再个”。 eg:We need another five desks/five more desks.illness 可数名词,意为“疾病,身体不适”。其同义词是sickness;形容词形式是ill(病的;生病的)。eg:a serious illness一种重病with excitement “激动地、兴奋地”,常做伴随状语。 eg:He watched the football match with excitement.他激动地观看了这场足球赛。 awake形容词,意为“醒着的”, 是个表语形容词,其反义词是asleep。eg:Is the baby awake or asleep?婴儿醒着还是睡着了? die from死于 (外因,如灾难、事故) die of 死于 (内因,如疾病、饥饿) eg:He died from a traffic accident. He died of heart trouble. *prepare的用法 prepare sth.“准备”,后接名词或代词。 They were preparing the party when I came in. prepare sb.sth. = prepare sth. for sb. “给准备”,。 She prepared us many gifts. prepare sb. for sth. “使某人对某事有所准备”。 She said so because she wanted to prepare her friend for the bad news. prepare to do sth. “准备做” , eg: They were preparing to cross the river then.
