2017广东罗定县高考英语(一轮)阅读理解优练阅读理解。阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。 Imagine looking for your lost dog. You step into a cave. But instead of the dog, you find beautiful cave paintings. You see paintings of horses, deer, and bison drawn in black, brown, red and yellow. Your first question would probably be“Who did this? ”This is what happened to four French boys in 1940. They found the Lascaux caves. The paintings the boys discovered in those caves are about 17, 000 years old. They were drawn by the ancient people called Cro-Magnon(克鲁马努人). Cro-Magnons looked much like people of today. They used tools, such as fishing nets. But their art was extremely good. The main cave at Lascaux is called Great Hall of Bulls, which has a picture of bulls and horses in many colours. The largest animal is 18 feet long. There are smaller animals, such as bison, stags and a bear. There is also a strange spotted two-horned(两只角的)animal. To the left of the main cave are the most famous paintings that are the drawings of animals in many different colours. One painting is called Little Horses. On the ceiling are horses and cows. The most unusual sight may be in the Shaft of the Dead Man where there is a rhinoceros, a carefully drawn dead man, an injured bison and a bird. Why did Cro-Magnon artists do these beautiful drawings on cave walls? Did the drawings call upon some magic power? Did the Cro-Magnon people hope that the drawings would bring good luck? There is one thing the paintings seem to tell us. The Cro-Magnons were interested in the world. They looked at beauty and they understood it. 【文章大意】本文介绍了法国Lascaux岩洞壁画的相关情况。1. The year tarts with the best of intentions, but many times we are unable to keep up with very high goals. Good news is that a healthy lifestyle is achievable and its all about making small changes that make a difference. News on healthy lifestyles says that the key is moderation and consistency. There are so many health and well-being products out there in the market promising many things. And although many may be true, select carefully. The basics of a healthy lifestyle is maintaining a balanced diet and doing regular exercise. By eating well, it means really to make sure you include plenty of vegetables and fruit preferably in season in your diet, avoid fried and junk foods and foods high in sugar as well as processed foods. Eating fresh homemade meals rather than ready-made meals, which are high in salt and sugar, is always the better option. Reducing alcohol intake, drinking plenty of water and supplementing your diet with healthy snacks like nuts and seeds. For external care choose natural skin care products and hair care oil. Natural beauty care involves using natural moisturizers(保湿剂)like Argan oil, Coconut oil and Sweet Almond oil. These nourish(滋养) the skin far more than counter creams full of chemicals. Skin reflects what we put inside of us, so a healthy diet with plenty of greens and healthy protein will make your skin brighter. All the while the troubled mother was trying to persuade him to behave well but failed. A little smack(打)on his bottom would have done the job, I thought. Teenagers also cause discipline (纪律)problems. As a teacher I had a 16-year-old student who had fallen in love with a waiter at a fast-food restaurant. In fact, she had left home to stay with him. So we decided to put her in the school hostel. She refused. When she heard her mother begging her to stay in the hostel, she turned round and said, “Why dont you stay in the hostel if you like it so much?”My palms were itching to slap her for being so rude but the poor mother continued to cajole her, hoping the gentle persuasion would work wonders. It did not. Later I heard that she had run away from home again. The list goes on and on. Could it be that todays parents are softer and believe that they must not rod (棍棒惩罚) their children for fear of the bad result?Or do they actually believe that the children will get rid of the bad habits and behave well naturally as they grow older?I beg to disagree. I believe it is the parents duty to discipline the children even at a young age. My children who are now adults will prove the fact that I used the rod when I thought it necessary. Later when they went abroad, they related to their British university friends on how they were disciplined.Their friends abroad were idled with horror and told my daughter that I could be charged with child abuse. However, my daughter showed great respect for me when she told them that she would not be where she was today if not for my strict discipline. 1. According to the passage, the author would probably _.A. beat the children every dayB. treat the children in a softer wayC. leave the children as they areD. punish the children when necessary2. The underlined word “cajole”( in Para. 3 )probably means _.A. persuadeB. scoldC. forgiveD. punish3. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A. The naughty boys mother hit him. B. The teachers daughter lived with her mother. C. The daughter was thankful for the authors strict discipline. D. The author was charged with child abuse by the daughters friends abroad. 4. Which of the following can be the best title of this passage? A. Spoil KidsB. Value DisciplineC. Respect Parents D. Protect Kids【参考答案】36. DACB During the fall months at high school guidance counseling programs, juniors run to the stage to participate in an exercise to help them understand that it is not “where you go” that matters. They hold posters with the names and faces of famous people while their peers (同龄人) and parents shout out with confidence the names of elite (精英) colleges they assume the celebrities attended. The “oohs” and “aahs” follow when they learn that Steven Spielberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates dropped out of college, that Oprah Winfrey is a graduate of Tennessee State and that Ken Burns graduated from Hampshire College. If even a few stressed students and their anxious parents benefit from this information, it is a worthwhile exercise.Even better is giving the students a task to identify the happy, successful people in their own circle of family, friends, co-workers and neighbors and challenging them to go and ask “if or where they went to college” as a means of broadening the conversation in their search for a life after high school. The key to success in college and beyond has more to do with what students do with their time during college than where they choose to attend. A long-term study of 6,335 college graduates published by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that graduating from a college where entering students have higher SAT scores - one marker of elite colleges - didnt pay off in higher post-graduation income. Researchers found that students who applied to several elite schools but didnt attend them - either because of rejection or by their own choice - are more likely to earn high incomes later than students who actually attended elite schools. In a summary of the findings, the bureau says that “evidently, students motivation, ambition and desire to learn have a much stronger effect on their future success than average academic ability of their classmates.” The late author Loren Pope, who wroteLooking Beyond the Ivy League andColleges That Change Lives, noted that the greater the opp
