The students will be able to listen, read and say the words tall, short, fat, thin, big and small. Teaching difficulty:The correct sound of the sentence: Look at that. And the word thin. Teaching aids:1. The recorder together with its tape.Teaching procedure:Step 1. Warm-up Enjoy a song. Look at the big cow. 1. Greetings: Good morning. 2. Revision: T: Boys and girls, look at Miss Zhangs hands. Can you guess, whats in my hands? S: Its .T: Look. What is it? Its a bird. Look at the bird. It is cute. PPT shows a bird. 3. T: Look, the bird is small. How about this animal? (1)Look, what colour is it? Listen, what animal is it? Guess, big or small? PPT shows a dog. (2) Guess, what animal is it? T helps them to get the answer: Its a panda. T: Guess, its Guide them to answer: Its big/small/fat.(3) T: Look, what colour is it? Can you guess, its a . T helps them to answer: Its a snake. T: Yes, the snake is very long.4. Lets chant. T: Now, lets say a chant. Listen to me, please. Lets chant together, OK? T guide them to say the chant. 5. Look and say. T: Good job. Now, children, look at these animals. They are very cute. I like the Its . What animal do you like? Guide them to answer: I like the . Its .Step 2. Presentation1. T: I like that panda, too. Its fat and cute. Where can we see the panda? In the zoo. T: Today, lets go to the zoo to see more animals.T: In the zoo, we see many animals. (1) T shows a picture of a bear. Let them to listen and guess. T: Please, listen and guess, what animal it is?Oh, its a bear. Look at that bear. Let them talk about the bear. E.g. Its tall/big/fat. T: Look at that bear. Wow! Its very tall. Then guide them to say more about the bear. Help them to use the sentence: Look at that .Its . Then, teach the new sentence: Look at that. Emphasize the sound of the sentence. (2) Teach the new word giraffe and so. T shows the neck of the giraffe and guides them to guess. Then teach the new word giraffe. T: Look at that giraffe. Its . Let the students say: Its tall. T: Yes, its tall. You see, the bear is very tall. But the giraffe is much taller. Its so tall. Emphasize the sound of the word - so. (3)Teach the new word short. T: Wow, the giraffe is so tall. Look at that monkey. Is it tall? Ss: No. T: No, its not tall. Its short. Teach the new word short. Then guide them to say more about the monkey. T: Its so short. (4)Teach the new word thin. T: Look, is the monkey fat? No. T: Its thin. Teach the new word thin. Emphasize the sound of thin. The monkey is short and thin. T: Look at that monkey. Its short and thin. Step 3. Practice1. Do pair work: T shows some pictures and asks them to do pair work to talk about one animal. T: Now, children, look at these animals, choose one to talk about with your partners. 2. The text. T: Wow, we can see these animals in the zoo. Today, Miss White, Amy and Zhang Peng go to the zoo. (1) First, lets listen. What animals do they see? Guide them to listen and find out the answers. (2) Then, listen again and repeat. T: Now, lets listen and repeat for two times. (3) T: Do you remember the words? Talk about in pairs. Please tell the words. Now, its more difficult. Asks them to say the sentences. 3. Act the dialogue. T: You did a very good job. Lets act the dialogue in groups. One acts Amy, one acts Zhang Peng, one acts Miss White, and one acts the animals.
