Teaching contents1. be able to master new words: news, mind, stand, sitcom, soap opera.2. be able to know about and discuss about seven kinds of TV shows: news, sitcom, soap opera, game show, talk show, talent show, sports show. 3. be able to master words to show different preferences. Teaching aims 1. Knowledge aims: to help the students to master the new words and target languages.New words: news, mind, stand, sitcom, soap opera.Target language: -What do you think of? -I love/ like/ dont mind/ dont like/ cant stand it/ them. 2. Ability aim: to help the students to learn to use words to show different preferences.3. Emotional aim: to make the students be interested in good cooperation and competition. Teaching key points and difficult pointsThe key point: to master the new words as well as target languages.The difficult point: 1. to learn how to use words to show different preferences to different people and things.2. to make the students to be interested in the topic and the lesson. Teaching & learning methods1. Teaching methods: communicative method and task-based method.2. learning methods: cooperative method and researched method. Teaching aids: ppt, multi-media computer.Part 4 Teaching procedures: Step 1 lead-in: Greet the students with questions “How was your last weekend?” “Did you watch TV at home?” “Do you like watching TV?” and then lead in to the topicTV programs. Step 2 presentation of the wordsA Guessing Game Present seven kinds of TV shows one by one with a guessing game. Ask the students to guess the names of some TV programs according to the music they hear. Step 3 Task 1a and word practice Ask the students to finish task 1a. Then ask them to have a words practice: stand up and say the TV shows loudly and quickly when they see the pictures.Step 4 Presentation of the target languagesAsk the students to use different adjectives to describe “talent show” with a question: What do you think of ? Then guide the students to use these adjectives to present words to show different preferences. Step 5 Drills and Practice of target languges(pair work)1. Show 4 pictures of TV shows and let the students to ask and answer like this: -What do you think of ? -I it/ them. -Why? -Because its/ theyre2. Show some pictures of fruit and sports, and then ask them to make a similar conversation to talk about them.Step 6 Listening Practice of 1bAsk the students to finish 1b.Step 7 Free talk(group work)Ask the students to talk about anything or any people they want to and ask one student as a reporter to interview the others. Step 8 Summary and homeworkGuide the students to summarize the key words and target languages and then arrange the homework: 1. remember seven kinds of TV shows and words to show different preferences. 2. do a survey and then write a report about the topic: What do your friends think of the things around them?.
