(8分)阅读理解 Mrs. Brown, who lived alone in the Bridge Block, was asking for help because of his missing cat. My baby has been missing for over a month now, and I want him back so badly, said Mrs. Brown. She said that Clyde, her 12-year-old cat, didnt come home for dinner more than a month ago. Although he was old and weak, Mrs. Brown loved him a lot. The next morning, he didnt appear for breakfast either. After Clyde missed an extra-special lunch, she called the police. When the policeman asked her to describe Clyde, she told him that Clyde had beautiful green eyes, had all his teeth but was missing half of his left ear, and was twelve years old and totally white. She then told the officer that Clyde was about a foot high.Is Clyde your child or your pet? the officer doubtfully asked. Well, hes my cat, of course,Mrs. Brown replied. Lady, youre supposed to report missing PERSONS, not missing CATS, said the irritated policeman. Well, who can I report this to? she asked. You cant. You have to ask around your neighborhood or put up flyer (传单)replied the officer.Mrs. Brown figured that a notice board would work a lot better than a piece of paper on a telephone pole. There was an empty billboard at the end of her street just off the highway. Cars only passed by smoothly between 2 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. The rest of the day, the highway was so full of drivers that no one moves. She took most of the money out of her savings account and rented the notice board with $3,000 for a month. The month has passed, but Clyde has not appeared. Because she has almost no money in savings, Mrs. Brown called the local newspaper to see if anyone could help her rent the notice board for just one more month. Mrs. Brown would give up looking for her cat because of money.12. (8分) Many strong and out-of-control emotions are recognized as an illness. People who are always very sad have depression (抑郁症); those who worry a lot have anxiety. But what about anger problems? Anger is largely viewed as a secondary emotion one caused by other emotions. People are thought to be angry because they are sad, anxious or stressed. In the past, many doctors didnt accept the idea that anger could be a problem all on its own.Today, though, a growing number of mental health experts think that anger is a serious problem that needs its own treatment. How to tell the difference between normal anger and anger problem is difficult. After all, everyone gets really mad from time to time. Experts point out a few ways.Disordered anger, as it is sometimes called, tends to be of greater intensity (强度). It takes very little to set off a person with an anger problem, and their responses (反应) are very strong. An example: While most people would get upset if a driver cut them off, someone with disordered anger might try to chase down the car and force it off the road. And in cases of disordered anger, the person gets angry more frequently and his/her anger lasts longer. For most people, angry feelings disappear quickly. But people with anger problems often stay angry for days, weeks or even years; their feelings of anger dont disappear over time.Consequences are also important to consider: Disordered anger often damages peoples lives. “It interferes (干扰) with peoples relationships and their jobs,”says Raymond Chip Tafrate, a US psychologist. “Even their health is affected.”Anger clearly increases the risk of certain health problems, as many studies have shown. “When a person is angry, their heart beats faster and their blood pressure goes up,”says Howard Kassinove, a professor at Hofstra University in New York. Over time, these changes take their toll on the body, he adds.Experts suggest that people with an anger problem take anger-management programs. The programs teach people to control their responses to stressful situations through the use of relaxation techniques. The programs sometimes include life-skills training as well: increasing someones level of competence (竞争) whether on the job or as a parent or partner helps bring down stress and cut angry feelings.(1)A person who _ most possibly has disordered anger in the experts opinion?A . cant get out of anger quicklyB . is dissatisfied with relationshipsC . has high blood pressureD . is worried about his job(2)What does the underlined word Consequences mean?A . The use of relaxation techniques is the best way to manage anger.(4)What is the best title of the passage?A . Can anger be an illness?B . Is it disordered anger?C . Can anger influence our life?D . Is anger management important?13. (8分) Street art is a very popular form of art that is spreading quickly all over the world. You can find it on buildings, sidewalks, street signs and trash cans(垃圾桶) from Tokyo to Paris, from Moscow to Cape Town. Street art has become a global culture and even art museums and galleries(画廊) are collecting the works of street artists.Street art started out very secretly because it was criminal to paint public and private things without permission(允许).People often have different opinions about street art. Some think it is a crime and others think it is a very beautiful new form of culture.Art experts say that the street art movement began in New York in the 1960s. Young adults painted words and other images on walls and trains. This colorful style of writing became known as graffiti(涂鸦). Graffiti art showed that young people wanted to be against society. They didnt want to accept rules and travelled around cities to create paintings that everyone could see. In many cases, they had trouble with the police and the local government. One well-known New York street artist is Swoon. She cuts paper images of people and puts them on walls or sets them up on sidewalks. Swoon didnt start her career as a street artist. She studied art, but as time went on, got bored with the works she saw in museums and galleries. People in New York enjoy Swoons strong and imaginative style. Some museums have already bought some of her works.Advertising companies also use street art in their ads because it gives people the feelings of youth and energy. In Todays world the Internet has a big influence on street art. Artists can show their pictures to the audience all over the world. Many city residents, however, say that seeing a picture on the Internet is never as good as seeing it live. The street art movement lives with the energy and life of a big city.(1)What can we learn from Paragraph1?A .
