What did you do last weekend? Did you do anything else?Add “last weekend” after the theme “indoor activities” in the Word web. Then ask the students to change the simple present tense of the phrases into the past tense.OverviewTask assignmentTalk about the indoor activities you took last weekend.Explicit objectivesTo fulfill the task, we need to:1. Review the phrases about activities2. Grasp the past tense of the verbs, especially the irregular verbs: read a book, saw a film, had a cold, slept, went .3. Talk about the day: How was ? What did you do ? Did you do ?PresentationLead inCan you find the rules when we change the simple present tense into the past tense?Yes, all the verbs had added “-ed”.How about the pronunciations? Are they same?ReviewListen carefully and classify these verbs into 2 groups:“ed” pronounced /t/: watched, washed“ed” pronounced /d/: cleaned, stayed, playedPresentation1. Can you read these sentences correctly?I clean my room every day.I cleaned my room last weekend.I watch TV every night.I _ TV last night. Fill in the blanks and explain it: because “last night” refers to the past time, so we should use the past tense.2. What other words or phrase can refers to the past time?The students may say: yesterday, last Monday, last months, last weekend.Show the calendar and learn the words: yesterday, the day before yesterday, last night, last Monday, last weekend 3. Do you want to know what I did last weekend?The students can ask the teacher with the sentence pattern: Did you ?4.
