Revision.Review the buildings words the students learned last class by playing a guessing games. (The words they should guess: library, park, supermarket, bank, pay phone, hospital, post office, police station, street)Step 2 Presentation.1. Lead inShow the picture 1a to students, and give them one minute to remember which street these buildings are on. Next, use the preposition of place on to make conversations:A: Is there in the picture?B: Yes, there is.A: Where is it?B:It is on( Bridge street/ Long street/ Center street)2. Teach the new prepositions of place (1) Use a soccer ball and a box to present the new words: next to, in front of, betweenand, behind, across from. For example:( Show the picture of a soccer ball that is behind a box) T: Look! Where is the soccer ball?S: Its behind the box. (If the students cant give the answer, the teacher can tell them.)(2) Read these words.(3) Ask students positions to practice these prepositions of place.(4) Teach the other words in the same way.Step 3 Practice1. Teach activity 2a(Point the picture and ask)T: Where is the pay phone?Ss: The pay phone is on/ behind/ in front of/ across from/ next to/ betweenand 2. Ask students to practice the sentences3. Match the sentences with the pictures.Step 4 ListeningTeach Activity 2b1. Lead students to have a quick look at the words and sentences so that they can know what to do.2. Play the record to listen, ask them to listen carefully and fill in the blanks with the words in the box.3. Check the answers.Step 5 Work in pairs.1. Show the picture in 1a on Page 43, then ask students work in groups to consolidate the new prepositions of place and sentences. (The teacher walks around the classroom to check them progress.)2. Some minutes later, invite some groups to show themselves to the class.Step 6 Summary and Customs1. When we ask for directions on streets, we should be polite. Before it, you can say “Excuse me”. After it, you are supposed to say “Thank you”.2. It is necessary to learn about some customs to ask for and give directions in a foreign country. Step 7 Homework1.
