Unit 9. What does he look like?Section A(1a-1c)教学目标1.知识目标:单词:hair, curly, straight, height, tall ,medium, thin, heavy, build.句型:What does he/she look like? He/She is tall and has long hair. What does your friend look like? He is of medium height and he has long straight hair.2.能力目标:学完本课,学会描述别人的形象。能积极思维,运用所学单词,短语及句型,结合实际生活进行灵活运用。3.情感态度目标:让学生学会友好地描述别人的形象。学情分析谈论人的外表形象是人们日常生活中遇到的话题,故学生喜于用英语表达此类知识。重点难点 教学重点:掌握本课新单词、句型和怎样描述一个人的外貌。教学难点:掌握正确运用have动词和be动词的描述人物外貌的方法。教学过程Step 1.Greeting and lead-in1. GreeningT: Im very happy to have a class with you? Are you happy?Ss: Yes.T:I hope we can have a good time learning English.2. Lead-inT: Please look at the screen. What can you see in the picture?Ss: Some people.T: Do they look the same?Ss: No, they dont.T: So different people have different looks. Today well learn to describe peoples looks. Well learn to answer the question” What does he look like?”Step 2. Presentation1. Show three pictures of famous people to introduce their height. Teach the new words and the new sentence pattern.T. There are three pictures ,look at the first one, who is he?Ss: He is Kobe.T: What does he look like?Ss: He is tall.(Use the same way to teach “short” and “of medium height” and then teach them to read)2. Show other three pictures to introduce build. Teach the new words (thin, heavy, of medium build) and the sentence pattern. Then teach them to read.3. Show a picture of three boys and three girlsT. Can you describe them? What does he/she look like?(ask Ss to answer one by one)S1:Cindy is thin.S2:Alice is of medium build.S6:John is tall.4. Show two pictures to introduce the hairstyle by comparing them. T: Look at the girl and the man ,the girls hair is long, but the mans hair is short. (Use the same way to teach “straight”, “curly”, “blonde” and “black” and then teacher them to read)T: Look at the girl ,we can say” She has long straight blonde hair.” How about the man? What does he look like?S1: He has short curly black hair.(show learning tips on the screen)T: Please pay attention to the order when we describe ones hairstyle. First long or short ,thenstraight or curly, at last the color, You must remember.5 .Show two pictures (a boy and a girl) T. Look at their hair. What does he/she look like?(ask two students to answer) S1: He has short straight black hair.S2:She has long curly brown hair.6. Show three pictures to teach “a round face”, “big/small eyes”, “a big nose” “big ears”, “a small mouth” .(They can help Ss to describe peoples looks better.)Step 3. Finish activity 1a and 1bDo 1aT: Now please open your books and turn to page 49. Look at 1a, please match the words with the people in the picture. I think you can do it very easily now.(after Ss finish iT: Lets check the answer like this: e has short hair.(ask Ss to check the answer)S1: b has curly hair.S8: d is heavy.T: You are so great. From 1 to 4, we describe ones hair, so we should use “has”. From 5 to 9, we describe ones height and build ,we should use “is”. Please remember.Do 1bLet Ss listen to Activity 1b carefully, fill in the blanks in the picture and find Amys friend.And say something about Amys friends look.( Hes really tall.And he has curly hair.)Step 4: PracticeShow three pictures of famous people one by one and ask Ss to describe them by using the sentence patterns.T: Now Ill show you some pictures of famous people.I think you must be interested in them.Please look at the pictures and describe them.Look at him ,who is he?Ss:He is Yao Min.T: What does he look like?S1: He is tall and strong.S2: He has short black hair.(ask several students to answer)Use the same way to ask them to describe Angelababy and Han Hong.T: You describe these famous people very well. Do you want to describe your classmates?Ss:Yes.T: Lets describe together.(T asks three or four Ss to the front one by one and the other students describe them)Step 5:Groupwork(Play a guessing game)T:Now lets play a game. Do you like a game?Ss:Yes.T:Lets do it in groups.Each group describes one student in your class, you can describe anyone. NO.1 student in each group writes it down and then read your description to all the students. Students in the other groups guess who he /she is.(after a few minutes, ask NO 1 student in each group comes to the front one by one and the other students guess)Step 6: Summary Students will sum up what they have le
