Functions of this unit: Describe the weather and what peopleare doing. Structures:Present progressive tense and H/Wh questions.、Analysis of learners (学情分析) Students have learned the present progressive tense from Unit 6. So, theyre quite familiar with it. As for talking about the weather, its also not hard to them. The whole class is slightly above average in this grade. Yet some students are a little shy when you ask them to speak in class. 、Teaching goals: 1.Language goals:1) Revising describing the weather by speaking and writing.2) Practicing the progressive tense by describing what people are doing.3)Learning to write a postcard by talking the weather and peoples activities somewhere 2. Emotional attitudes and values: Talking about the weather is also a good topic to chat. Its nice to communicate with friends on the weather and activities of the vacation.、Key points and difficulties:1. Key points:1) Completing the article by using words to describe the weather somewhere and what people are doing.2) Be able to describe the weather somewhere and what people are doing.2. Difficulties:Be able to describe the weather somewhere and what people are doing.、Teaching aids Multi-media teaching device (CAI classroom), courseware、 Teaching Procedures:1. Warming- up and revisiona. Ask and answer about the weather iconography on the screen.b. Pairwork about the weather in different seasons.2. Presentationa. T presents new words by pictures on the slides. Most of the students previewed the text, so they can pronounce correctly. The teacher could point out the transformation of the part of speech: snowsnowy, rainrainy, RussiaRussian.b. Ss read the new words and try to remember them. 3. Free talk T gets Ss to finish a few conversations to practice the new words & expressions. Then practice the conversations.4. Fill in the blanks with the words in the box.a. T gets the class to turn to P.42, 3a on their textbooks. Let them read the words in the box. b. T: Heres another postcard from Kate to Xiao Lu. Look at the pictures on the postcard. Hows the weather there? And what is the girl doing?Let Ss answer the two questions. c. T gives some guidesFirstly, read the words in the box, master their meanings.Then, read the article to grasp the main idea.Next, read every sentence carefully, analyze the context fore and after the blank to determine the missing word. Let some Ss read the questions aloud. c. Make sure Ss know the meaning of the questions.d. Ss think and write down some notes about their vacations. e. Let Ss read out their own vacation notes. 6. Writing 3c a. Write a postcard to a friend. Tell your friend about your vacation and what you are doing. b. Instructions:Remind Ss to recall the most impressive vacation in their life.Tell the class, they could use the answers to the questions in 3b for writing.Then tell the Ss to make a coherent article by connecting the answers to the questions, pay attention to use the present continuous tense to describe what is happening.c.
