Suppose some English exchange students are coming to our school. We are asked to be their guide(导游) to show them around our city. In order to be good guides, we have to join in some training lessons. (S/SS):Get ready to join in the training lessons.Students can arouse great interests to finish the tasks through a close-to-real life situation. 二、presentationTraining lesson 1 Identify the different places on the street (T):Show some pictures of key words for places and ask the students to identify and read them.1.Students can understand and master words about places in English ,such as post, office, post office, police, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay phone2.Students will be able to identify some other word for places by flashing pictures given by the teacher, such as library, supermarket, museum, airport, train station, parking lot, bathroom.3. Work on 1a to review the target words for places.4. Work on 1c and practice the sentence pattern: Is there a near here? Yes, there is/ No, there isnt.Students get the word base to be ready for the final tasks, and they master more words for places.Training lesson 2Ask for and give directions on the street1. Students finish 2a in 2 minutes and get to know the prepositions for positions. At the same time, they can read the words and phrases correctly.2. Students finish 2b to apply the words and phrases to the sentences by listening3. Pair workStudents talk about the picture and use the target words for position.Training lesson 3 QuizStudents do a quick answer according to the pictures in 3a to test if they can ask and give the way on the street.Training lesson 4 Be a good guideGroup workStudents finish this task in a group of 3 or 4. One is a guide and others are visiting students.Example:A: Hi, excuse me.B: Yes. How can I help you?A: Well, Im new in town. Is there a bank near here?B: Yes, there is.
