Good afternoon everyone Here I m very glad to share my teaching idea about Reading of Chapter 5 in Oxford English 8B The subject of this chapter is water and the water cycle During this lesson I ll mainly train the students comprehension ability I ll change the original teaching order Put the more practice and reading together Stress the importance of English as a tool for study and developing in students abilities about how to learn I divide the instruction into seven parts Content Analysis Students Analysis Teaching Method Analysis Learning Method Analysis Teaching Procedure Teaching Evaluation and Blackboard Design Content analysis 1 Status Function The main purpose of this lesson is to know about the water journey to learn how to save it To attain four skills request of listening speaking reading and writing Such a topic is related to daily life so it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful for their further study in reading What s more it will help them easily accept the main points of the passage So it plays an important role in this book 2 Teaching Aims Knowledge Ams I ll help them to learn the new words by teaching and guessing Help students understand the whole passage with key words Find out the topic sentence Abilities Aims To encourage the students to practice participate and co operate in the class activities To train the students comprehension ability To develop the students abilities of communicating with others Moral Aims To enable the students to know about the importance of water Know how to save water Let them make a contribution to building an economical society Key Points This passage is familiar with us We should set up a good learning surrounding for the students so that they can study for application use in study Motivate their saving consciousness call on all the students to save water and stop wasting it from now on Difficult Points vocabulary liquid solid vanish treatment thorough Phrases get cleaned up drop into remember not to do come out of Use the key words to retell the water journey So much for Part 1 next I ll show you Part2 Students Analysis Most of the students can learn and express English very well get a lot of pleasure from studying English However some students are poor at English I should raise their interests to help them Teaching Methods Analysis Multi media computer some objects and so on will be needed in this course As we all know the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate students abilities of listening speaking reading writing and their good sense of the English language So I ll mainly use Communicative teaching method Audio visual teaching method and Task based teaching method I ll try my best to increase Student Talking Time emphases are be laid on Student centered teaching Activity based teaching pair work group work competition do a survey and write a poster talking guessing competition and practice are used Learning Method Analysis To deal with all above the students must have a good preview and they must take part in the activities and co operate the tasks by using target language They can use the link method five sences methods to train their self study created abilities They can also discuss the main idea to consolidate the knowledge with the help of teamwork Now I ll mainly talk about next part that is Teaching Procedure Step 1 Warm up I ll play a piece of music before class help students relaxed Begin class with free talk between students and me What s in my hand A bottle of water Review the knowledge of water here I ll show them an apple tree Each apple is a question The purpose is to raise Ss interest and prepare for the next learning part Step 2 Pair Work In this step I ll give them a free space to show their abilities Water is the resource of life we drink and use it every day it makes our life meaning and colorful we can t live without it So let Ss talk about and discuss the importance of water I ll choose suitable once to report Task based teaching Methods is used to develop Ss ability of communication and ability of co operation will be well trained The purpose is to improve students spoken English they can learn more efficiently Show them pictures tell them three forms of water liquid solid and gas teach new words with help of picture In this way teaching new words makes Ss feel not bored they can master them more easily and happily Step 3 Presentation This course is very important so I ll use CAI to present the whole passage I ll tell some students to pretend they re each a drop of water they can either describe or say anything they know that is connected to water It is important to provide an interesting surrounding it can lead in interests and active background knowledge This is a dialogue between Daizy and a drop of water What is Daizy talking to Why did the water say it was like liquid gold Before reading give them these questions to raise their interests and make sure they read the passage carefully understand better after skimming let them match the words with the meaning After that Let them scan the dialogue again Then answer the questions The purpose is to help them to grasp the whole passage Different question are given different students Teacher should praise more students in class Help them master the main idea Then I ll give them some paragraphs this time some key words are missed the teacher gets Ss to fill in the blinks The exercise helps them master the key points Purpose is to test whether students have mastered the knowledge please find the meanings Make the Ss get the idea of the passage At the same time let them have a chance to practice their abilities I ll encourage some slower students to do the exercises Believe in them Show a slide help them name the things With the help of the picture let them retell the water journey The purpose to link information with pictures Step 4 Group Work Task 1 the examples of saving water the ways of saving the other discuss water is life blood of our earth Remind people how precious it is Most of the water in the world isn t drinkable There s a famous saying The last drop of water is Man s tear if we don t use it wisely So we must save it Divide them into two groups Let them have a competition One discuss the ways of saving water the other discuss the examples of wasting water An idea each light The group which has the most lights is the winner In this way students can know more ways to save water and don t waste water again Students are the most important roles in my lesson teacher can be a partner a director The purpose is to make class more lively Ss would better like to take part in train them work with partners When working together they will benefit a lot Not only learn the knowledge but also learn how to help each other Help them to solve the problems in our lives by using the
