What do they/you look like? He/She isHe/She has3.Language SkillsThe students will be able to describe peoples looks and increase their vocabulary according to the listening and oral practice.4.Learning Strategies(1)The students will be able to recognize and use the target language in natural speech. (2)The students will be encouraged to describe peoples appearance in a polite way by using target language by themselves, in pairs and in groups. 5.AffectionThe students will be able to focus their attention on the classroom instruction and performance.6.CultureThe students will be able to aware it is important to be as polite as possible when describing someones appearance and never judge one by his/her appearance.Difficulties(1)Train students listening and speaking skills.(2)Learn to describe peoples appearance(3)How to choose the verbs is/are or have/hasTeaching aidsBlackboard, Chalk, Computer, Overhead Projector,SettingThe students sit in four-member groups around desks.Procedures & ActivitiesTeaching Procedures & ActivitiesLearning Procedures & ActivitiesI. I. Warm-up 1. Tell students about the new Disney movie Cinderella and talk about Disney cartoons.2. Play an English song in the Disney movie Tangled(长发公主).3. Talk about the hair style of the persons in the video. Students are going to know something about Disney movies, watch the video and pay attention to the feature of the girl.T Talk about the most prominent feature of the girl and the hairstyle of other character in the movie with the teacher.II. Presentation1. Show some cartoon pictures of different hair styles, height, and build and talk with students.A: What does he look like?(point to the picture in the screen )B: He has long hair/ short hair/ curly hair/ straight hair.A: What does he look like?B: He is tall / short / of medium heightA: What does he look like?B: He is thin / heavy / of medium build.2. Ask students to work on book 1a and present the words and expressions again with the picture.The students are going to look at the whiteboard and do as teachers instruction.1. Answer the questions together.2. Ask and answer in groups with the pictures on PPT.III Listening PracticeThe teacher is going to help students prepare for the listening tasks and give them instructions.1. Listen 1b. Listen carefully and fill in the blanks and find Amys friend? And say Amys friends image.Hes really tallAnd he has curly hair2. Listen and answer the questions in 2a.3. Listen again and fill in the chart in 2b.4. Choose a person and draw a picture in pairs.The students are going to finish the tasks, check their answers in group and draw a picture in pairs.IV Pair workAsk Ss to work in pairs and talk about their friends .A: What does your friend look like? B: Hes of medium build. He has curly hair. A: Is he tall or short? B: He is short. A: Is he Mao Junsen? B: Yes, he is.The students are going to work in pairs. Talk about their friends looks with the given example.V. Group work Give some pictures of students in the class and ask them to prepare for the guessing competition- One describe person on the pictures, the other guess. The group which guess the most in 1minute will be the winner.The students are going to prepare for the game1. Talk about the features of some of their classmates2. practice guessing in pairs.3. choose the best pair in their group to join the competition.VI Summary1. Ask Students to sum up the expressions and sentence patterns theyve learnt.2. Give the picture of Oprah Winfrey and ask students to describe her appearance. Briefly introduce her and make students aware that we cant judge one only by his/her appearance.
