Unit 6 Section B Lets talk and Lets learn Teaching design I. Teaching aims:a) Language aims: 1. To make sure that SS can read and recognize the new words: six , seven, eight 2. To enable SS understand and speak the patterns: How old are you? Im years old. b) Ability aims: 1. To foster SS use the new words and the patterns in real situation. 2. To develop SS speaking and encourage them to express their thoughts. c) Emotion aims: To arouse SS interest of learning English and set up self-confidence in language study.II. Important points: To grasp and use the sentence patterns: How are you? Im six years old, and the new words.III. Difficult points:To make SS use the numbers and be able to speak English in the daily life.IV. Teaching and learning methods:Make SS take part in class. Ask and answer in pairs and groups, Ill use communicative method.V. Teaching procedureStep 1 Warming upa) Greeting b) Have a revisionT: Good afternoon, boys and girls.SS: Good afternoon, Melon. T: Nice to meet you,SS: Nice to meet you, too.With the things we have learned “ruler, eraser, pen, bag”, say: Look, I have a ruler Show me your ruler. How many rulers? and so on, Practice like this, Then, let SS practice in pairs like this.Step2 Leading-inListen to the chant, Can you find out the numbers we have learned?Ss answer, Do you know how to read the next number? Now, lets look at the screen. Ask: How many fingers? SixToday is Sams birthday, we should say: Happy Birthday! Sing the song: Happy birthday to you! T: How old is Sam?Ss: Six.Step 3 Presentationa) Teach the number six. Show me six. Ask Ss to do with the teacher. Show the question: How old are you? Ss hand up to answer the question.Tell Ss Six is the lucky number in China. But in Canada, the lucky number is Seven. Look at the screen. How many fingers? Show the question: How old are you? Practice the sentences: How old are you? Im years old.b) Practice: 1) Show a picture of some numbers, Ss try to read. 2) Let Ss find out the missing numbers quickly.c) Listen to the tape.First, just listen. Second, Ss imitate. At last, do after it.Step4 Conclusion What did you learn in this class? SS review the sentences: How old are you? Im years old. And the new words: six seven eight nine ten. They can count from one to ten.Step5 Homework 1. After class, SS can describe something with the numbers and use the patterns to inquire your friend and relatives the ages. 2.
