國立台灣大學建校八十週年學術活動膜蛋白結構與功能 大師系列講座 (II)膜蛋白數量約佔生物體蛋白數目三分之一,與生物膜的結構與功能研究日益重要;也是目前甚受囑目的生醫研究領域 - 結構基因體學 - 的核心主題之大宗。此次欣逢建校八十週年校慶,配合國內科學界執牛耳之學術基金會之邀請,本校安排了六位膜蛋白結構與功能研究重量級之學者前來訪問演講。六位演講者均為國家科學院院士級以上之學者,其中更有兩位是諾貝爾獎得主。能夠同時請到這麼多位重量級的人物前來在相關重大主題上與醫學院師生互動,實為難得。名為大師系列講座,殊不為過!第二場將於九月十二日登場,節目行程及講員基本資料如下,歡迎全校師生踴躍出席活動並參與討論。如需協助安排特定參訪行程或個別討論機會,煩請聯絡醫學院口生所樓老師(分機66616或.tw)。97年9月15日(地點:台大醫院國際會議中心三樓301演講廳)09:00-10:20早餐會談 (地點:立德飯店)10:50-12:00參觀卓越中心12:00-13:30午餐 (地點: NTUH國際會議中心餐廳)14:00-15:00Maestro Lecture (地點: 301演講廳)“How the ER Gets into Shape”15:00-15:20Discussions15:20-16:30Coffee Break16:30-18:00自由討論18:00-晚餐 (地點: 鼎泰豐餐廳)Prof. Tom A.RAPOPORT (U.Texas Southwestern Medical Center, USA) 時間:97/9/12 (五) 14:00 AM 茶會/演講地點:台大醫院國際會議中心三樓301演講廳講題:“How the ER Gets into Shape”Tom Rapoport教授1947年誕生於辛辛那提,三歲時因麥卡錫主義波及,隨父母重返德國。由於父母一為小兒科醫師,一為生化學家,因此Rapoport教授的科學研究興趣與習慣,從小便獲得啟發。他在25歲以研究inorganic pyrophosphatase之酵素動力學獲得博士學位。Rapoport教授目前任職於哈佛大學醫學院細胞生物系及Howard Hughes Medical Institutes ,為目前研究蛋白質如何進出內質網的知名研究學者。其多項研究成果更早已獲Cell、 Nature 、Science等國際知名重量級期刊刊載。且為美國藝術與科學院院士及美國國家科學院院士。在蛋白質轉運與降解研究方面取得重大突破。本次講題著重在與蛋白質折疊有關之膜蛋白結構功能,以及protein targeting and translocation。在任何細胞中,錯誤摺疊的蛋白質必須被確實摧毀。這個過程並不發生在內質網(endoplasmic reticulum ) 之中,因內質網是負責分泌輸出摺疊正確並包裹好的蛋白質;取而代之的則是,錯誤摺疊的蛋白質,必須重新輸送穿過內質網,回到細胞質。2005年獲選成為美國國家科學院院士的Tom Rapoport教授,其科學生涯中,有一大段時間,花在研究membrane channel Derlin-1 :一個從細胞質可以輸出蛋白的膜通道蛋白。在近五年的研究中,他找到並研究reverse protein movement process of retrotranslocation,他確定了一系列與retrotranslocation complex 相關的蛋白質,如p97,並研究其結構。同時,他也放了大幅的重心在針對signal recognition particle (SRP)序列的確定以及TRAM和Sec61P蛋白的研究;相當重要的是以Sec61P及其大腸桿菌同源蛋白SecY的蛋白質單晶晶體結構來闡明translocation machinery之機制與機制的重要性,以及其在演化上是如何保守。Profr. Rapoport is also Professor of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School. He received his Ph.D. degree from Humboldt University, Berlin (East Germany), and his Habilitation from the same institution. Before assuming his current position, he was Professor of Cell Biology at the Academy of Sciences of East Germany and later at the Max Delbrck Center for Molecular Medicine. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.A.
