Unit 4 Why dont you talk to your parents?Section A 2 (3a-3c)- How to reduce pressure江油实验学校 刘堂海一、教学目标: 1. 语言知识目标:1) 学习掌握下列词汇:get on with; relation, communication, argue, cloud, elder, instead, whatever, nervous, offer, proper, secondly, communication, explain, clear 2)阅读短文,能按要求找到相应的信息。3)通过阅读提高学生们的阅读能力。4) 了解在如果生活中发生了一些不尽如人意的问题,应当如何面对理性地去解决。2. 情感态度价值观目标:人的一生并不都是一帆风顺的,难免有一些挫折的困难,如果生活中发生了一些不尽如人意的问题,我们学会冷静对待,学会合理的办法去理性地去解决。 二、教学重难点1. 教学重点:1) 掌握本部分出现的生词和词组,达到熟练运用的目标。2) 欣赏视频,阅读短文,获得相关的信息。通过阅读练习,来提高阅读能力。2. 教学难点:1) 欣赏视频,阅读短文,获得相关的信息的能力。2) 理解并运用所学的词汇及表达方式。三、教学过程Step 1 Lead-in 1. Morning, boys and girls. Welcome to my class. Nowadays, with the rapid /fast social development, people are facing variety of / many kinds of stress, such as high study stress on students, not only the students in senior high school who want to get into a better university, but also the students in Junior middle school who are learning exam skills so that they can get into a good high school, even the students in primary schools who are pushed to take different kinds of after-school activities, the work stress on adults like your father, and family stress on women and so on. Stress is everywhere. It is our topic today. Your attitude(态度) towards stress is important. We should keep active attitude towards stress. 2. Please take a look at the picture in black and white. Can you see some dots which are dancing? Some are black and some are white. Can you count the black dots? Can you see more black dots or white dots? If you can see more black dots than the white dots. Congratulation! You belong to the group of people who are stressed out. 3. Please look at another picture. It is beautiful, isn”t it? I love spring. When spring comes, Id like to hang out in the world of flowers. And the butterflies are the fairies among the sea of the flowers. Right? You may wonder why Mr. Liu showed us the pictures of butterfly. Does it have anything to do with the “pressure”?You got it. The butterfly takes about a few hours to get out of the cocoon. Because of the “pressure”, the butterfly can fly freely in the wind. A research showed that if you helped it out of the cocoon, the butterfly couldnt fly even though it has a pair of wing. No matter how beautiful they are! So the On the one hand,stress just like our good friend and promotes us go advanced. Proper pressure is good for us, but too much pressure is bad for our mind and body.Step 2 Presentation1. When you are under too much pressure, you may have the following feeling. - I am easy to get angry. - There is no specific reason, but I feel that life is boring. - I am tired. I dont want to move. I am used to stay at home all day long alone. I am not happy. I feel dull and sleepy all day. - The others are smart and cute. I often make mistakes. Ah, I am so clumsy that my master doesnt like me at all. - I am so nervous. The outside world is so dangerous. - Because of the stress, I cant get enough sleep, even I dont want to have any food. I often have headaches and stomachaches. I have bad memory, too. I take a lot of medicine, but it doesnt work. - Whats more, because of the stress, I cant get along with others, including family members, friends, teachers and relatives. All in all, heavy stress makes me lack of confidence and feel more tired. 2. Every coin has two sides. It depends on which side do you choose, the head-side or the tail-side. Here goes the saying that When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling, live your life so that when you die, youre smiling and everyone around you is crying. Each person whether rich or poor, young or old has his own difficulties, because life is not always full of smiles and flowers. As a student, we can not n not escape (逃避)from the reality , but we should learn to deal with the problems.Step 3 Reading and discussion The middle school students are teenagers. Why are you under pressure, too? Where is the pressure from? I guess it is from your family or school. Are they serious or no? That depends. Here is a letter from a student named “Sand and thirteen”【伤心13】. Listen to the letter and reply from Robert Hunt. Then lets talk about the problems and advice. Problems AdviceCant get on well with his family.His elder brother is not very nice to him.1. Talk about these things with your family2. Do more jobs around the house 3. Sit down and communicate with his brother.Step 4 Video Watching So boys and girl, do you have any problems in your daily life or school life? Can you list them out and share with us? Then we are going to watch a VCR, which could offer us some advice to reduce our pressure. Perhaps we could deal with them together. My Problems According to the VCR, which advice can promise you the best magic cure.. 5. 6. 7. 8. 1. breathing exercise 呼吸运动2. back stretches背部伸展3. yoga postures 瑜伽姿势4. go on vacation去度假5. take up a new sports or hobby such as skydiving, rock climbing, snowboarding, BASE jumping开始一个新的运动或爱好如跳伞,攀岩,滑雪,极限跳伞6. learn a new skill 学习新的技能7. go somewhere quiet (beautiful, serene)去某个安静的地方(美丽的,宁静的)8. go on an expensive holiday享受奢华的度假Step 5 : Conclusion 【The ways to lower the stress】 Before the Qingming Festival (Tomb-sweeping Day), I attended (took part in) a lecture on how to cope with the stress and how to be happier by Professor Xing Yong, who came from Department of Psychology of South-west Science & Technology University【西南科技大学心理学院】.Professor Xing Yong gave us a word “ TRAIN” to help us to reduce the stress.Here is what he explained to us. T means talking. If you are upset and sad, why not talk about your feelings with your family members, best friends or your teachers. They would be your listeners. Not only can you express your feeling, but also you can enjoy the company of others. Am I right?R means relaxing. If you are in trouble, dont be nervous. Say to yourself “ It is not a big deal. It is just a piece of potato.” Take it easy. Everything will be fine. Time can cure anything. If you cant work out the problem, dont say I cant, but say I will try. Nothing is impossible. A means activities. Dont stay at home alone. Be active in different kinds of outdoor activities. Try to be a member of sports team or club. Take up a new sport like breathing exercise, yoga posture, backstretches,go for a walk, go camping, go bike riding, go mountain climbing, even have a sound sleep. I means interests. If you dont have a hobby, it is hard for you to kill time and make friends. Try to take up or develop a new hobby, such as playing chess, Chinese hand-writing, reading, fishing, listening to music. N means nutrition. Try to have a healthy body, then you can have a strong mind. Firstly, you should have a balanced diet. Secondly, drink enough water. Thirdly, less junk food or fast food, try to have more vegetables and fruit. Step 6 :ExerciseBoys and girls, May the advice can help you. Lets read another article. Learn to relax. Overwork is the main reason why so many students feel tired and stressed. Cut down some of the jobs you need to do each day so that you can only focus on the most important things. Leave time for activities that are relaxing and fun. This might mean reading a good book, listening to the music, going for a walk or taking a relaxing bath.Get a good nights sleep. Getting enough sleep will help you keep your body and mind in the best form. If you stay up late and need to get up early for school the next day, you may not be able to concentrate (全神贯注)on the things you need to do. Exercise regularly and eat well. Dont rush through your meals. Eat less junk food or fast food. Eat healthy food instead. Get to know pleasant people. Some people are optimistic(乐观的), while others not. Choose optimistic people as your friends and spend more time with them and youll be as happy as them. Learn to be calm when you face any
