Later the teacher had better present some sentences containing the past participle used as the adverbial and attribute on purpose by asking the students to do some exercises. Get the students to pay attention to the special usage and to analyze them and understand the function of the past participle in those sentences. While doing it, the students should be given some explanation about how to use the past participle.The following step is to practice more about the grammar. The teacher should arrange some activities carefully and creatively. For example, combine the two sentences using the past participle as the adverbial and attribute. Then ask them students to make some sentences using the past participle.By doing and practicing more, the students may master the grammar.教学目标Teaching aims1. knowledge aim Let students learn the use of the past participle as the adverbial and attribute. 2. Lets try the bookstore opened last month.2. Yesterday, the President went to visit the retired workers.3. He told us of the great wrong done to him.4. We must keep a secret of the things being discussed here.5. Please tell me the subjects to be discussed at next meeting.6. I saw an old man knocked down by a car.7. I saw a bird flying in the sky.8. With so much homework to do, I have no time to play.9. Exhausted, I slid into bed and fell fast sleep.10. Seeing from the top of the tower, we can get a wonderful view of our city.11. Discovering useful structures 过去分词作状语可以表示时间,原因,条件,让步,方式或伴随情况等。其逻辑主语一般与句中主语一致,过去分词与句中主语一般是被动关系,相当于相应的状语从句。【注意1】一般来说,过去分词作状语,和句中主语是被动关系,现在分词作状语,和句中主语是主动关系,不定时作状语,一般表示目的。(比较句子8.9.10)Step 3 Rewrite the following sentences with the past participle as the adverbial.1. Moved to tears, he stood there silently.【注意2】有些过去分词源于系表结构,作状语时不表示被动而表主动。常见的过去分词(短语)有lost,seated,hidden,lost in,absorbed in,born,dressed in,tired of,worried,interested,satisfied,surprised,disappointed等。【注意3】过去分词有事可以和连词作状语,实际上就是状语从句的省略现象。如: He will come if (he is) asked. Although (she was) laughed at by her classmates, she continued to dance.Step 4 Practice1.
