It is a time for frightening costumes, masks, parties, games and tricksall for fun. Children with curious masks go from house to house to frighten friends or neighbors and threaten them with “Trick or treat”.Halloween customs today follow many ancient traditions that devils and spirits were believed to fly on All Hallows Eve and bonfire were lit to warn off these spirits.2.The 1965 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to American children because they asked for pennies for UNICEF (United Nations International Children Emergency Fund联合国儿童基金会) to help children in other countries. The first National Thanksgiving Day was set on November 26, 1789 by George Washington in his inauguration. In 1864, President Lincoln appointed the last Thursday of November to be the day. And the Congress declared the fourth Thursday in November to be a national day in 1941.Today the Americans usually hold a big family dinner to celebrate the holiday, which often lasts four days.Christmas1.Christmas Day, which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, is the biggest and the best-loved holiday in the United States. It is a time of warmth and love, hospitality and good will. 2.
