Im Liu Yuan.Its my great honor to stand here to share my teaching ideas with you.Today Im going to talk about the first period in Section A of Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came? Which is taken from Go for it,Book4. My presentation consists of six parts:analysis of the teaching material, analysis of the students,teaching methods, Im leanring methods,teaching procedures and blackboard design. Part One Analysis of the teaching material Status This unit is maily about telling past events using past continuous tense.Let the student talk about what people were doing when the relevant events happened. The content of this unit is closely related to studentsdaily life, so its easy to encourage them to communicate with others by using what they have leared in this class.二Teaching aims and demands1.Knowledge objects Master new words,phrases and key sentences.Master the past continuous tense.2.Ability Objectts3.Moral Objects Lead Ss to learn the sense of self-protection in time of difficulty. 三Teaching key and difficult points Mster the sentence pattern of past progressive tense.How to use the progressive tense in the adverb clause of time leaded by when. The Ss have learned simple continuous tense and they can express their thought and communicate with each other in English well. And all the Ss will be interested in the topic about their past experience, which is related to their real life.Its helpful for our study of this lesson。 Part Three Teaching methods1. Communicative teaching method2. Situational teaching method3. “Task-based”teaching methodAs well we all know:the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate studentsabilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense.So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Cmmunicate” teaching method, “Situational” teaching method and “Task-based”teaching method.Part Four learning methods4. Presentation-practice-productionCooperation and communicative waysPart Five Teaching proceduresStep1 Warming UpGreetings between the teacher and the Ss as usualStep 2 Revision and DisscussionShow some pictures and get Ss to revise the simple progressive tense by saying what he/she is doing.Lead Ss to describe the pictures using the past progressive by giving the past time.Summzrize the structure of past continuous tense and let SsMake sentences.Step 3 Presentation(1a-1b)Give pictures and guide to say the new word:rainstormWatch a video and introduce the topic:What were people doing when the rainstorm came? Answer the questions using past progressive tense.Make Ss do 1a and check the answers.Listen to 1b and circle the correct responses.Then, check their answers.Step4 Practice 1c5. Ss work in pairs to talk about what the people in 1a doing at the time of the rainstorm.Ask four pairs to role play the conversations.Step5.Group Work Get the students to work in groups to talk about the pictures and make up conversations.Invite group leader pairs to act it out.Step6.Report Divide Ss into groups and choose a report for each group.The report interviews the group members with“What were you doing when the rainstorm came?” and make a report.Step 7. SummaryGet students to tell us what they got in the class.St
