Skim the passage to catch the main idea.三重点难点:1. New words and expressions.2. To improve the reading skills.四 教学准备:Multimedia, blackboard.五教学过程:Step 1. Greetings and before-class activities.小先生组织课前复习旧知并导入新课。Step 2. Leading-inT: How are you today? Students answer.Look at the pictures on the screen, and say the events in English, talk about something about the events. Then let the students look at a photo of Dr Martin Luther King and ask one student to say something about him. Then show another photo of 9.11. Ask a student to say the story of 9-11.设计意图:通过介绍两个历史事件, 为阅读文章做好铺垫。Step 3. Listening.1. Listen to the tape and answer the two questions:What was Robert doing when Dr. King was killed?2. Which day will Kate never forget?3. 设计意图:通过听力训练, 让学生再进一步了解文章并培养学生听力能力和语感。Step 4. Reading.1. Skim reading.Read the passage quickly and try to answer the two questions:1) What are the two events in the passage?2) When did they happen?Check the students answers.2. New words. Write the new words and Chinese meanings on the blackboard and read for the students , ask them to read one by one.3. Detail reading.Read the passage carefully and finish the tasks in 2c and 2d.Check the answers.设计意图: 通过略读细读短文阅读方法回答问题,目的是让学生掌握阅读技巧, 并更好地理解文章意思。Step 5. After-reading.Discuss with partners: How much do you remember about the events in the passage?
