小学英语五年级上册人教版第5单元 “There is a big bed” 第一课时(Lets talk & Lets Learn)Unit 5 There is a big bedTeaching Aims:1) Knowledge aims:By the end of the lesson, students are able to:(1) Memorize and use new words: clock, photo, plant, water bottle, bike;(2) Use the sentence structure correctly:“ There be ”;(3) Distinguish several prepositions: on, in, under, beside.2) Ability aims:(1) Students listening and speaking abilities will be improved;(2) Students can describe their own rooms with new knowledge clearly.3) Emotion aim:Students can be willing to invite friends to their home and how to introduce their rooms.Teaching Key Points and Difficult Points:1) Key points:(1) Students are able to use the sentence structure “There be” ;(2) Students are able to distinguish several prepositions: on, in, under, beside.2) Difficult points:Students are able to distinguish the usage of “ there be” and “have”Teaching Aids: PPT, cards, audioTeaching Steps:1) Lead-in (2 mins):Ask students “what is in your room?”, “Have you ever visited to your friends home or have you invited your friends to your home and what do you do ?”.(Students may say some words about what they have in their rooms, teacher need to write down some useful words on the blackboard. This step can let students recall the situation that they visit or invite friends at home, which is matching to this texts background. )2) Presentation (18 mins):(1) Predict the text:a) Show a picture about Zhang Pengs bedroom in PPT;b) Teacher says “Today, Sarah and Mike visit Zhang Pengs home and Zhang Peng shows and introduces his bedroom to friends. Look at this picture, what things do you see and think that if you were Zhang Peng what you will say to Sarah and Mike.”(Students may say some new words in Chinese, like “zhongbiao” and “ shuibei”. At this time, teacher needs to introduce these new words to students. )c) Introduce new words: clock, photo, plant, water bottle, bike;(2) Present the text:a) Play the audio and ask “What is in Zhang Pengs room?”b) Circle words in PPT: Ask students to circle right words which have been mentioned in audio.c) Listen again and check answers.(In this steps teacher use “have” to describe right answers: Zhang Peng has a big bed; He has a nice photo. )d) Teaching new sentence structure “There be”i. Ask students to find “There be” in text:There is a big bed. / There is a nice photoii. Let students guess the meaning of “there be” with the comparison with above “have” sentences.iii. Teach new structure “There be” and let students make sentences.iv. Distinguish “There be” and “have”e) Introduce prepositions in sentences, such as on, in, under and beside.3) Practice (10 mins):a) Translate Chinese to English ( whole class):i. 在我的房间里有一张书桌,在桌子上有一盏台灯,书桌的旁边是一张床, 床上有三张图片。(Pay attention to the plural form of “photo”.)ii. 餐桌上有一个水杯,一个苹果和一些香蕉。iii. 我有一台电脑,电脑的下面是我的书包。b) Draw a room (whole class and pair work):iv. Teacher read a short passage about a rooms description and students draw out what teacher says on paper. v. Divide the whole class into four groups and each group picks one student to draw the picture on the blackboard. Meanwhile, other students draw the picture. When teacher finish reading, the whole class evaluate the four students pictures and desk mates evaluate each others ones.4) Production (6 mins):a) Describe the picture in Lets talk. (group in four)b) Teacher chooses two groups to show their talk to the whole class and correct some wrong pronunciation and words which students may say. 5) Summary (4 mins):Summary new knowledge: words,
