Knowledge Objects:1) Master these words:shoot, once upon a time, stone,dig,hold. 2) Ss can use the structures: How does the story begin? What happened next? 2. Ability Objects:Ss can use English to ask the beginning, the presentation and results of stores.3. Moral Objects:Ss will learn to face the problems in their schoolwork and their own life just like Yu Gong. And they should find out the correct way to deal with them.II.Teaching focus & difficulties1. Teaching focus: 1) The new words:shoot, once upon a time, stone,dig,hold. 2) the structures: How does the story begin? What happened next? 2. Teaching difficulties Ss can use English to ask the beginning, the presentation and results of stores. And retell the simple stories.III.Teaching AidsA tape recorder, multimediaIV.Teaching Procedure: Step 1 Lead in (about6miutes)1. Have students listen to the song Yu Gong Moves a Mountain and talk about it with students. T: What do you think of this song? Ss:Very beautiful. T:After you heard this song,what do you remember? S1: I remember a story called Yu Gong Moves a Mountain. T:Yes,today we will learn something about this story. T:Do you like reading stories?Which fairy story have you heard?.Step 2 Presentation (about6minutes)1. Show some pictures on the screen Look at the pictures and guess the English names of the fairy stories.(the main character)2. Match the pictures with the English names in Page41 and tell Ss that there are four Chinese ancient fairy tales.3. Read the names of the story in the box.Step 3 Listening(about12minutes)1. Listen for the first time ,ask Ss to listen to the tape carefully and try to finish 1c,for the second time fill in the blanks in the paper .Then for the last time check the answers by themselves.2. Check the answers together.Step 4 Pair work (about 6minutes)1. Read the questions in the box in 1c. 2. Ss discuss the questions with their partners. 3. Let some pairs ask and answer the questions. e.g. A: How does the story happen? B: There were two very tall mountains in front of their house. A: What happened next?B: A very old man tried to move the mountains. A: Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains? B: They would put them into the sea. Step5.Listening Practice(about 12minutes)Have Ss look at the pictures in 2a and try describing each pictures in their own words. Then let the Ss guess the order of the story happened.Play the tape for the first time ,Ss only listen and get a general idea of it.Play the tape the second time and ask them to write the numbers in front of the pictures.Then play the tape again and let them circle the words they hear.Check the answers.V.Homework: (about2minutes)1. Recite the conversation in 2d after school. 2.
