And ask students what they like to eat in summer. Step 2. Lead in Guessing GameShow some pictures of food really quickly and ask students what they can see and remember. Round 1: beef, chicken, mutton and fish Round 2: carrots, potatoes, tomatoes and cabbage Round 3: apples, pears, oranges and bananasAsk students some questions while playing the game. Do you like oranges? What do you like to eat? Encourage students to guess what my favorite food is. Some hints will be provided to make it easier for students to guess. (sweet, fruit, cream and candles.)Answer: cakeStep 3. Pre-readingT: When do we usually eat cakes?Ss: We usually eat cakes on our birthdayT: What do we put on a cake?S1: We put candles on it.T: How many candles should we put?S2: The number of candles should be the persons age.T: What must we do before eating the cake?S3: We must make a wish.S4: We must blow out the candles.T: Yes,people usually have cakes on their birthday. But do people eat cakes around the world? What will the writer talk about in the article? Can you guess? Lets read the article and see if your predictions are right.Step 4. While-reading 1. Prediction and fast reading 1) Yes or No?Encourage students to predict whether the statements are true or false. Then students read quickly to check the answers.2) read the article and complete the chart.2. Careful reading( pair work ) Read the article carefully and answer the questions. Then students work in pairs. One read the question and the other answer the question.Step 5 Post-reading1. Give students 2 minutes to read the article and try to memorize as much information as possible. Then everyone closes the book and fills the blanks.2. RetellingRetell with the help of key words. Main idea helps students to learn the text better.Step 6 Consolidation 1. Discussion What do you like to eat on your birthday? Cakes or noodles? Why?Different foods express the same idea. 3.
