Unit 1 My school Part One Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThis lesson is the first period of section A, unit 1, PEP for primary English book 4B. The content is about school, which is close to the Ss real life, let the Ss know how to find different places in their school. Through this course,it will become the foundation of the coming lesson. The main idea is cultivating the Ss spirit of team cooperation.Based on the New Curriculum Standard,the teaching objectives are divided into three parts: 1. Knowledge objectiveLearn the sentence patterns “Where is the teachers office? Its on the second floor. Is this the teachers office? No, it isnt.” 2. Ability objectiveUse the sentence patterns “Where is the teachers office? Its on the second floor. Is this the teachers office? No, it isnt.” in the real situation.3. Emotional objectivearouse Ss learning interest and cultivate the Ss spirit of team cooperation.Based on the analysis of teaching material, the teaching important points are the sentence patterns “Where is the teachers office? Its on the second floor. Is this the teachers office? No, it isnt.”; the teaching difficult point is to use the sentence patterns in the real situation.Part Two Analysis of the StudentsWith the growth of age, the Ss in Grade 4 have the subtle mental change, from the active to quiet, dislike projecting themselves. They have one and a half-year study experience, have get in touch with some words and can express the things they can do, which provide the foundation for this lesson. However, their abstract thinking ability level is low and their attention can be scattered easily. Part Three Teaching Methodstask-based language teaching method, TPR method,the situational approach Part Four Learning MethodsCorrespondingly, the Ss will take part in the activities and finish the tasks cooperatively in pairs and in groups. They will use the language in a relax, democratic, and harmonious atmosphere.Part Five Teaching Aidsmultimedia, tape recorder, picturesPart Six Teaching ProceduresStep 1 warm up and lead in Play a song Our school in this unit, Ss sing after the recorder, let the Ss get in touch with some new words and sentence pattern and enter in the next part naturally, meanwhile, the learning atmosphere will be very active.Step 2 presentation Lets talk1. Use multimedia to show the picture about our school, say: “Look! This is our school. Its so beautiful!” Then point an exercise book “This is a homework book.” and then guide a group leader to hand it in and say “Hand in the homework.” Ask other group leaders to follow the sample. Then ask the Ss “where can the group leader hand in the homework?” and point the picture to teach the phrase “teachers office”. Let Ss read the phrase and sentence several times after me until they can read them correctly and fluently.2. Point the teachers office in the picture and ask “Where is the teachers office?” Help the Ss give the answer “Its on the second floor.” Then, divide the Ss into two groups, practice the dialogue.G1: Where is the teachers office? G2: Its on the second floor.G2: Where is the teachers office? G1: Its on the second floor.Play the record of Lets talk, ask the Ss look at the pictures, and read follow the recorder. Ask them to practise the sentences with their partner. Then, ask some Ss to show the dialogue to their classmates. Commend the best group.3. “The teachers office is on the second floor. But there are two rooms.” Point the library in the picture and ask “Is this the teachers office?” Help and guide the Ss answer “No, it isnt.” Then point the teachers office and ask “Is this the teachers office?” Guide the Ss “Yes, it is.” Let girls ask the question, boys answer it. Then change the roles.Girls: Is this the teachers office? Boys: No, it isnt.Boys: Is this the teachers office? Girls: Yes, it is.4. Point the library and the teachers office and tell the Ss “The teachers office is next to the library.” Teach the word “library” and explain the meaning and function of “next to” properly.5. Play the rest parts of Lets talk, in the same way practice the sentence pattern for several times and correct their pronunciation.Through this step, Ss can understand and master the new words, phrases and sentences better. It also can improve their learning interest. Step 3 practice, consolidation and extension1. Ask Ss read the dialogue of Look, ask and answer after the recorder for several times, correct their pronunciation, and then, let the Ss practice it with their partner.2. Guessing game.Use multimedia to show some pictures about different places (Ss had known the words), ask some volunteers to practise. One stands in front of the class, back to the pictures, and the other explains the location, then the first one guesses it. Practice the conversation in pairs. After explaining,S1: “Is this the teachers office?”S2: “No, it isnt.”S1: “Is this the library?”S2: “Yes, it is.”3. Role playDivide Ss into 4 groups, make a new dialogue using the new sentence pattern and the new words, act it out in front of the class, I will select the best one and give them some rewards.S1: Excuse me. Wheres the teachers office?S2: Its on the second floor.S1: Is it next to the Classroom 2?S2: No, it isnt. It is next to the Classroom 3.S1: Thanks.This step can cultivate the Ss spirit of team cooperation.Step 4 summaryIn this step, Ss sum up by themselves, they will talk about what they have grasped in this lesson and make an assessment on each group. Through it, Ss can know the main content of this lesson better, and their independent thinking ability can be cultivated.Step 5 homeworkAsk Ss to practice the conversation with
