Lecture Notes for Unit6 (period 5)Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, Its my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The lesson is the fifth period (SecB 3a)of unit 6-Im more outgoing than my sister. Im giving the lecture from the following five aspects. Analysis of the teaching material, the analysis of students、the teaching and studying methods, the teaching procedures, and the reflection of this period .First, let me talk about the teaching material.Part 1 Teaching Material: Personal traits and comparision of characters are the main topics of this unit. We should focus on some adjectives describing people, there is no doubt that the final goal is to enable students to compare various people in their comparatives. As for this lesson,its the reading instruction, the objects are as follows: first,most students ought to master the usages of the new words and drills listed below after learning: opposite views and interests,beat sb in,I dont really care;I dont think differences are imprtant in a friendship;its not necessary to be the same. Second, students reading skills and ability must be fostered. Next, would you mind following me to move to the second part?Part 2 the analyse of studentsMost students can understand and speak some fundamental daily-use English sentences, and most of them are still interested in learning English,however, all of them are not capable of making free communication with these sentences kept in their mind and reading comprehension always make them confused, on particular, when there are some words or drills never seen before in the article.Well, how to achieve the teaching objects better, the good teaching and studying methods are very significant, lets go to the third part Part 3 Teaching Methods and Studying Methods:For the reading instruction, the general target is to help students accumulate the basic English language knowledge and then train students original abilities and skills of reading. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “task-based” Approach,. That is to say, Ill let Ss to get a better understanding of the whole article and mastery of the key words ,phrases and drills in the process of finishing the tasks one after another.Sure,now that this is a lesson about reading, reading and speaking in various ways must be penetrated in the whole class. In a word, as a teacher, my task is to lead students to go to the article, arrange some tasks for them and help them to solve the problems if necessary; for students, they should read and speak according to the task given and try to solve the problems by team cooperation.Now, its time to go to the the next part of my lecturePart 4 Teaching Procedures:Step 1 Pre-reading. At the beginning of the class, free talk are designed to set an useful atmosphere for English study and elicit the topic to be learnt in this class. The question ”should be friends different or the same?” plays significant role in presentation of the article . Step 2 Skimming. In this stage, I ask students to complete the sentences while listening, and the sentences are given are three characters opinion on best friend. I think this task can both improve students listening skills and help them to get the core ideas of the article. Step 3 Scanning there are many adjectives in the article and they are important for students to understand the whole passage, although all of them have been studied in the previous periods ,its still necessary to recall them ,so, I make students underline them in order to comprehend the article better. In addition, The key words and phrases such as “beat sb in” are very significant for students to understand the article ,and we must attach great importance to them. So the translation of phrases are arranged hereStep 4 Learning. Its time for detail study at this time, for further study, tasks are delivered: accomplishment of the chart and comprehension of the key and difficult sentences.Step 5 Expanding, to deepen the understanding of the article and strengthen the flexible application of the language points, I lead students to retell the article and do some concerned written exercise.Part 5 ReflectionIts a pity that there are many shortcomings existing in the class.first, the language points error,such as “be like sb”, it gave students a wrong impression because of my own negligence;second,I have the random spoken English in the class and obscure directions,which made students puzzled in step three-(while filling the chart); third, it seems that there are too many tasks in the class,maybe some of them
