Teaching ProceduresStep 1 GreetingSay: Good morning, everybody. My name is Yoven Huang. I am glad to come to Xinjiang Middle School. I hope we have fun learning here. Nice to meet you!Step 2 Revision(1) Look, first lets review the phrasal verbs we have learnt. (2) Put these phrases into Chinese.(3) Make sentences with the phrases.(Show the answers)clean up 打扫干净 (Ill help clean up the classroom.)cheer up 使高兴起来 (You could cheer up the old man / sick people.)give out 分发,发放 (You could give out food at the food bank.)put off 推迟,拖延 (We have to put off the meeting because of rain.)set up 建立,开办 (We are going to set up a food bank to help hungry people.)come up with (=think up) 想出 (I need to come up with / think up some ideas.)(4) Read loudly and clearly.Step 3 New lesson(1) Look at the blackboard, now we are learning some new phrases.First, run out of. (Use the sentences to help understand.Show similar meanings.)Then, explain the other sentences in the same way like this. ( take after/ fix up/ give away)run out of (=use up) 用完 (I have run out of my money.)take after (=be similar to)与相像 (The girl takes after her mother.)fix up (=repair) 修理 (The little boy helps me fix up my bicycle.)give away 赠送 (He gave away his bike to charity.)Finally, read louder and clearly.(2) Do exercises, use those phrases.run out of The writer his books to a library.take after The workers have the big machine.fix up Tony his father in everything but his nose.give away He is aways money before payday.Well done!Now open the books, and turn to page13, match the sentences with similar meanings in 1a. Then, check the answers.(3) Play the recording for the students to number the pictures1-4 in correct order. Check the answers.Play again, write phrases under each picture.(4) Play the recording again for them, circle “T” or “F” in 1d. Ask four students to answer true or false.(5) Play the fourth times. Look at tapescript.Then, answer three questions: Whos Jimmy? Hes the boy who fixes up old bikes and gives them away. What does he do? He fixes up bikes and gives them away.Why did he do that? Because he wants to help the kids (who dont have enough money to buy their own bikes).Step 4 ConsolidationPairwork: Practice the conversation between Jimmy and the reporter. Use the information from 1c and 1d.Then, ask several students to share their conversation with the class.Step 5 Homework(1) Make up one more sentence with each of the phrasal verbs in Activity lb.(2) Write out the conversations that you made by yourselves in Activity 1e.Step 6 Blackboard Design Unit 2 Ill help to clean up the city parks.Section B 1a-1e
