Show the pupils the card and ask them What is this? to revise their existing vocabulary. Then ask them When do we send greeting card? Write the names of the holidays, National Day, Childrens Day, Teachers Day and Christmas Day on the board.b. Take one example of a holiday, e.g. Childrens Day. Ask the pupils What do we do on Childrens Day? Suggest and mime making a card, sing a song, writing a poem or drawing a picture.II. Teach PB Aa. Show Transparency. Play the Pupils Book Cassette and point to the speech bubbles. Ask the pupils to repeat after the cassette.b. Point to the photo album Tim is holding and ask the pupils to tell the teacher the names of the holidays shown in each picture. Read the conversation between Tim and Koko. Ask the pupils repeat the conversation after the teacher.c. Point to each of the pictures in turn. Ask half the class to act Koko and the other half to act Tim. Write the dates and the names of the holidays in separate lists to be displayed on the board.b. Point to the holidays on the list and ask the pupils Whens Day? Get the pupils to come out and write the correct dates.c. Play the Pupils Book Cassette.d. Read the conversation and ask the class to read it after the teacher. Practise the falling intonation for the question Whens ?e. Demonstrate with a pair of pupils how to ask and answer the question about when Childrens Day is. Ask the pupils in pairs to role-play Pat and Jenny.f. Ask questions to find out if the pupils can answer Whens s Day?g. Pupils make dialogues in their group.b. Get some groups to act out their dialogues.II. Teach PB E and Fa. Play the Pupils Book Cassette and ask the pupils to listen to the sound and the words.b. Say the words slowly and clearly. Check that the pupils are saying the sound correctly.c. Point to the pictures and check that the pupils are saying the words without the teachers model.d. Play the Pupils Book Cassette again. Ask the pupils to listen to the poem. Then get the pupils to repeat the poem. e. Play the cassette again and tell the pupils to circle the same letters with the same sound. f. Teach PB F. Tell the pupils to work in pairs. Together they should choose one of the holidays in the unit and find out when it is this year. They should write down the date.g. Tell the pupils to choose an activity for the special day and to write a sentence about their planned activity starting Were going to h. Tell the pupils to join with anther pair so that four pupils are working together. Each pair takes turns to ask and answer questions about the special days they have chosen. They choose the best plan from the two pairs for the next step.i. One representative from each group of four tells the rest of the class what their chosen day is, when it is and what they plan to do. Play the cassette again and encourage the pupils to join in with the words.c. Then ask the pupils to complete the second verse by writing the correct words in
