Teaching aidsThe multimedia computer. Teaching procedures & ways Step I Lead in and listening Ask the students to predict their future.T: Hello, class! Ss: Hello, Mr. / MsT: Here is a riddle. What is always in front of you, yet you can never see it?Ss: Your future.T: Quite right! Tomorrow is future. Next week is future. Next year is future. And also future means the time when you grow up. In this class we are going to talk about your future. Please think what you are going to do when you grow up. Please draw a picture of your future job or life.Two minutes later, ask students to show their drawings and let the rest of the class guess.T: Well, lets look at Li Mins picture. S1: Li Min is going to be a teacher. T: Great! So, Li Min, what are you good at?Li: I am good at talking to and helping others. T: So, you will be a good teacher. Well, how about Tao Lans?S2: Tao Lan is going to be a singer. Tao: I am good at singing and dancing. T: Wonderful! Next one?S3: Fu Qiang is going to be a football player. Fu: I am good at running and playing football very much. I want to be another Beckham someday.T: We all hope your dreams come true. Do you still remember Li Ming and Wang Mei?Ss: Yes. They are in Grade Eight, too.T: Now theyre talking about their future. Lets listen to the tape and find what they are going to be in the future.Play the tape for the students to listen. Then check the answers.Step II Reading Ask the students to read the dialogue and then finish Exercise 1on Page 66 in Activity Book 3. Students are asked to do the exercises individually. Several minutes later, ask the students to check the answers in groups. Then give them the correct answers to Ex. 1.Step III Listening and learningAsk the students to read after the tape. Then ask them to read the dialogue aloud in pairs and later pick out the useful phrases. Explain the key phrases to them.1. in the future2. So is next week and next year.3. be nice to4. make sb. do sth.5. look hot / sick6. may / might / may be / maybeStep IV GuessingShow several short passages on the PowerPoint and let students guess what the jobs are.T: Please read the passages and guess what the jobs are. Show the following on the PowerPoint.1. I want to help other people. I work in a big hospital. I always help the people who are ill. I ask what the people feel and then give them some medicine. When I see people get well, I feel very happy.Do you know what my job is? Im a (n) _. 2. I work in a school. My job is to help students to study English well. I am very nice to my students. I often speak English to the students. Do you know what my job is? Im a (n) _.3. I am a young woman. I work in a restaurant. I always ask people: What would you like, please?
