You may find it comfortable to sit with one knee crossed over the other, but it might be causing health problems that you are not aware of.A study published in Blood Pressure Monitoring stated that sitting with your legs crossed can increase your blood pressure. This happens because the blood in your legs has to work against gravity to be pumped back to your heart, while the crossed legs increase resistance, making the blood even harder to circulate. You wont feel any immediate effects, but dont keep the posture more than 15 minutes. Get up and walk around at least once every hour.Crossing your legs can also lead to neck and back pain and make your hips in a twisted position, causing one of your pelvic bones to rotate. Since your pelvic bone supports your neck and spine, this can cause pressure on your lower and middle back and neck. This sitting habit will make your feet and legs get tingly or have the feeling of being asleep, because it causes pressure on the veins and nerves in your legs and feet, leaving numbness and/or temporary paralysis in the legs, ankles, or feet. While the feeling of discomfort may only last a minute or two, repeatedly crossing your legs until they feel numb can cause permanent nerve damage. So next time you sit down, try to get yourself in the habit of sitting with both of your feet planted flat on the floor to save your health in the long run. 21. Where does this text probably come from?A. Science fiction B. Childrens literature C. An advertisement D. A science report22. The first alert my husband Jimmy got came around 9 p.m. from TV. He ran upstairs to find me in our third-floor bedroom, and then it came. The bones of the house shook, and the wind began to roar through the house. We had three flights of steps to the relative safety of the first floor, a closet down there wedged underneath a brick staircase.I didnt know how or if we would make it. I gripped the banister and tried to move forward, but this intense pressure held me in place. In those seconds of practical stillness, everything was moving. As we reached the last flight of steps, our front door blew out. Shards of glass flew everywhere. We got close to the staircase landing only to find the back wall of the house tore off into the darkness outside. Finally I reached the closet. Jimmy pushed me in, but he couldnt get himself inside. I gripped his arm, or he would have flown right out the back of the house. My knees and scalp were full of glass, but I felt no pain. “Hold on!” he yelled. But there was nothing to hold on to.Suddenly, Jimmy lifted off his feet like people in tornadoes do in the movies. I thought I lost him. Then everything stopped. He landed on his feet. In those first quiet moments, I couldnt believe it was over. The storm lasted four minutes. Several town houses were completely destroyed. Among the the standing houses, ours suffered the most. Amazingly, none of us were severely injured. That 4 minutes felt like a lifetime.24.Whats the right order of the following events? They gripped the banisterThey got the first alert.Jimmy landed on his feet. The house began to shake.Jimmy pushed the author into the closet. The back wall of the house tore off into the darkness.A. For people suffering from ALS(渐冻症), also known as motor neurone disease, eye movement can be the only way they are able to communicate.“Current eye-tracking input systems for people with ALS or other motor impairments are expensive, not lasting under sunlight, and require frequent re-calibration and substantial, relatively immobile setups,” said Xiaoyi Zhang, a researcher at Microsoft who developed the technology.“To reduce the disadvantageswe created GazeSpeak, an eye-gesture communication system that runs on a smartphone, and is designed to be low-cost, lasting, portable and easy to learn.”The app is used by the listener by pointing their smartphone at the speaker. A chart that can be stuck to the back of the smartphone is then used by the speaker to determine which eye movements to make in order to communicate. The sticker shows four tables of letters, which each indicates a different eye movement. The speaker first decide the letters they want and find out which table they belong to, then selects the right table by looking up, down, left or right. The artificial intelligence is then able to analyze and predict the word or sentence they are trying to say. Zhangs research, Smartphone-Based Gaze Gesture Communication for People with Motor Disabilities, is set to be presented at the Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems in May.27. What does the underlined word “impairment” in the third paragraph mean?A. equipment B. injury C. system D. movement28.Which is not the advantage of the GazeSpeak app?A. It is an expensive system.B. It works well under sunlight.C. It doesnt require frequent re-calibration.D. It allows people with ALS to communicate with others from a phone.29. What can we infer from the text about the GazeSpeak app?A. It runs with a chart stuck to the back of a smartphone.B. It works without a camera on a smartphone.C. It interprets eye signals and translates them into letters.D. It is only used by the speaker with ALS.30. Whats the article mainly about?A. current eye-tracking input systems for people with ALSB. smartphone-based Gaze Gesture Communication for peopleC. smartphone app helping ALS sufferers speak with their eyesD. the artificial intelligence app benefiting people 第二节(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)原创根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。How to Enjoy Life As a TeenThe best years of your life?
