英文原稿Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor P0118 Model: Jaguar XJ 1996, 1997 Complaint: The fault code P0118 is likely to be set due to an ECT high input fault. Remedy: Ensure the code P1111 has been logged after the service drive cycle has been completed. If this is not the case then go to step 6 of the test below. With the engine turned off. Check the harness and connectors to ensure they are in good condition and are reliable. If they are faulty then either repair or replace and go to step 6 of the test below. Go to step 1 of the test below if no faults are found.Test: Whilst monitoring PID OFH, ensure the temperature range is within the correct limits of -48 to +148 Celsius. If the range is within limits then go to step 2. If the temperature range is not within the correct limits then repair and go to step 6. Ensure the harness continuity PI 005/001 is correctly wired to PI 045/016. If this gives a positive result then go to step 3. If the circuit is open then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 6. Ensure the harness continuity PI 005/002 is correctly wired to PI 045/005. If this gives a positive result then go to step 4. If the circuit is open then repair or replace the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 6. Check the harness insulation PI 005/001 and PI 005/002 will complete a circuit to Vbatt. If this gives a positive result, replace the sensor, and go to step 5. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 6. Ensure the sensor resistance is within the correct limits of 107 26990 Ohms. If this gives a positive result then go to step 6. If the sensor resistance is out of limits then replace the sensor, re-connect the harness and go to step 6. Clear the fault. Then in order to check if the fault code has been cleared perform the service drive cycle. If this gives a positive result then stop. If the fault is still present then go to step 7. Repeat the diagnostic procedure. If this now omits a positive result then stop. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor P0125 Model: Jaguar XJ 1996, 1997 Complaint: The fault code P0125 is likely to be set due to a fuel control fault where there is an excess of time when entering closed loop. It will also show in conjunction with fault code P0116. Remedy: Ensure the code P1111 has been logged after the service drive cycle has been completed. If this is not the case then go to step 8 of the test below. With the engine turned off. Check the harness and connectors to ensure they are in good condition and are reliable. If they are faulty then either repair or replace and go to step 8 of the test below. Go to step 1 of the test below if no faults are found.Test: Ensure the engine coolant level is correct. If it is then go to step 2. If it is too low then top it up and go to step 8. Ensure the coolant temperature gauge on the instrument pack is working correctly. If it is then remove the thermostat and go to step 3. If it is faulty then repair or replace the gauge and go to step 8. Ensure the thermostat operation is working sufficiently. If it gives a positive result then disconnect the ECT sensor and go to step 4. If it is not working sufficiently then replace the thermostat, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Ensure the harness continuity PI 005/001 is correctly wired to PI 045/016. If this gives a positive result then go to step 5. If the circuit is open then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Ensure the harness continuity PI 005/002 is correctly wired to PI 045/005. If this gives a positive result then go to step 6. If the circuit is open then repair or replace the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Check the harness insulation PI 005/001 will complete a circuit to PI 005/002. If this gives a positive result, go to step 7. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Ensure the sensor resistance is within the correct limits of 107 26990 Ohms. If this gives a positive result then go to step 8. If the sensor resistance is out of limits then replace the sensor, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Clear the fault. Throttle Position P0121 Model: Jaguar XJ 1996, 1997 Complaint: The fault code P0121 is likely to be set due to a fault in the Throttle Position range or performance. Remedy: Ensure the code P1111 has been logged after the service drive cycle has been completed. If this is not the case then go to step 8 of the test below. Check the harness and connectors to ensure they are in good condition and are reliable. If they are faulty then either repair or replace and go to step 8 of the test below. Disconnect the Throttle Position sensor and switch on the engine. Then go to step 1 of the test below if no faults are found.Test: Ensure pin PI 007/004 measures 5V +ve and pin PI 007/001 measures 0V. If so then switch off engine and go to step 2. If the measures are inaccurate then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Ensure the harness continuity PI 007/002 is correctly wired to PI 045/003. If this gives a positive result then go to step 3. If the circuit is open then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Ensure the harness continuity PI 007/003 is correctly wired to PI 045/004. If this gives a positive result then go to step 4. If the circuit is open then repair or replace the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Check the harness insulation PI 007/003 will complete a circuit to PI 007/001. If this gives a positive result, go to step 5. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Check the harness insulation PI 007/003 will complete a circuit to PI 007/004. If this gives a positive result, go to step 6. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Attach a multi metre in between the Throttle Position terminals 1 and 3. Then in order to check for a smooth response in metre resistance reading, slowly move the wiper through its range. If this gives a positive result then go to step 7. If the reading is inaccurate then repair or replace Throttle Position sensor, re-connect the harness and go to step 8. Ensure there are no blockages in the exhaust or inlet. If there are no blockages then go to step 8. If there are blockages then clear the blockage and go to step 8. Clear the fault. Then in order to check if the fault code has been cleared perform the service drive cycle. If this gives a positive result then stop. If the fault is still present then go to step 9. Repeat the diagnostic procedure. If this now omits a positive result then stop. Throttle Position P0122 Model: Jaguar XJ 1996, 1997 Complaint: The fault code P0122 is likely to be set due to a low input fault in the Throttle Position. Remedy: Ensure the values of the PID 11H are correct when the throttle is fully open or closed. If they are correct then go to step 9. If they are faulty then replace and go to step 9. Check the harness and connectors to ensure they are in good condition and are reliable. If they are faulty then either repair or replace and go to step 9 of the test below. Disconnect the Throttle Position sensor and switch on the engine. Then go to step 1 of the test below if no faults are found.Test: Ensure pin PI 007/004 measures 5V +ve and pin PI 007/001 measures 0V. If so then switch off engine and go to step 2. If the measures are inaccurate then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. Ensure the harness continuity PI 007/002 is correctly wired to PI 045/003. If this gives a positive result, go to step 5. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. Check the harness insulation PI 007/003 will complete a circuit to PI 007/004. If this gives a positive result, go to step 6. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. Ensure the resistance values of the Throttle Position sensor pins 1-3 and 3-4 are accurate. If this gives a positive result then go to step 7. If the reading is inaccurate then repair or replace Throttle Position sensor, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. Check the harness insulation PI 007/003 will complete a circuit to Vbatt. If this gives a positive result, go to step 8. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. Ensure there are no blockages in the exhaust or inlet. If there are no blockages then fit a new Throttle Position sensor, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. If there are blockages then clear the blockage and go to step 9. Clear the fault. Then in order to check if the fault code has been cleared perform the service drive cycle. If this gives a positive result then stop. If the fault is still present then go to step 10. Repeat the diagnostic procedure. If this now omits a positive result then stop. Throttle Position P0123 Model:Jaguar XJ 1996, 1997 Complaint: The fault code P0123 is likely to be set due to a high input fault in the Throttle Position. Remedy: Ensure the values of the PID 11H are correct when the throttle is fully open or closed. If they are correct then go to step 9. If they are faulty then replace and go to step 9. Check the harness and connectors to ensure they are in good condition and are reliable. If they are faulty then either repair or replace and go to step 9 of the test below. Disconnect the Throttle Position sensor and switch on the engine. Then go to step 1 of the test below if no faults are found.Test: Ensure pin PI 007/004 measures 5V +ve and pin PI 007/001 measures 0V. If so then switch off engine and go to step 2. If the circuit shorts then find and repair the wiring fault, re-connect the harness and go to step 9. Ensure the resistance values of the Throttle Position sensor pins 1-3 and 3-4 are accurate.
