BHow to Get World Records.CWorld Records. DRecords Are Made to Be Broken.61Judging from the writing style of the passage,it is_.Aa piece of advertisement Ba science reportCa passage for professional reading Da passage from a magazineCHow to improve my life? Many people think that they have to accept whatever life throws at them. Theyllsay, “This is my fate, my destiny(命运). I cannot change it.” Of course not! You dont have to suffer needlessly. Your destiny depends on you, not on any other outer factors. I know someone who says she just accepts what life gives her because she has done everything she can toimprove it. Guess what her lifestyle is? She wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes back home, relaxes, chats with people, watches TV, then goes to sleep. Next day, the same things cycle follows. Huh! Is this what she calls “doing her best”? She believes she has tried her best and just accepts it in herheart that this is the life that God has intended for her to live; that her luck can only change if God wills it. Of course God wants us to be happy and live our life to the fullest, but we have to do our share of exerting (运用) the effort to live the life of our dreams. Remember that you reap(收获) what you sow. You just dont sit around and wait for a million dollars to fall from the sky. You have to get off the couch, get your eyes off the TV screen, get your hands off the phone. Dontexpect your luck to change unless you do something about it. If something goes wrong, dont just regard it as a temporary(临时的) setback; but use it as feedback. Learn your lesson, make the most of the situation, and dosomething to solve the problem. Its not enough to think positively(积极地); you also have to act positively. If someones life is in the trouble, do you just hope and pray that things will turn out fine? Of course not!You get to do anything you can to save the person. So it is with your own life. It is not enough to hope for the best, but you have to do your best. In other words, dont just stand (or sit ) there, do something to improveyour life.62. According to the woman mentioned in Para.3, her life _.A. doesnt need improvingB. couldnt be improved C. will be better some dayD. will be worse in the future63. What does the author think of the womans life?A. positive B. satisfying C. colorful D. passive64. Which of the following statements is the authors opinion?A. Your temporary problem is not discouraging.B. Your luck can be changed by your hard work. C. You can only achieve success when God wills it.D. You should treat yourself in the way you treat friends.65. The text is mainly written to advise you to _.A. understand yourself B. improve your lifeC. believe in yourself D. change your normal wayDI am here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And weve got students listening from all across America, from kindergarten to 12th grade. I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, its your first day in a new school, so its understandable if youre a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade youre in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer and you could stay in bed.I know that feeling. When I was young, my family lived overseas. I lived in Indonesia for a few years. And my mother didnt have the money to send me where most American kids went to study, but she thought it was important for me to keep up with an American education. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself, Monday through Friday. But because she had to go to work, the only time she could do it was at 4:30 in the morning. Now, as you might imagine, I wasnt too happy about getting up that early. And a lot of times, Id fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever I complained, my mother would just give me one of those looks and shed say, “This is no picnic for me either.” So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But Im here today because I have something important to discuss with you. Im here because I want to talk with you about your education and whats expected of all of you in this new school year. Now, Ive given a lot of speeches about education. And Ive talked about responsibility a lot. Ive talked about teachers responsibility for encouraging students and pushing you to learn. Ive talked about your parents responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and you get your homework done. Ive talked a lot about your governments responsibility for setting high standards, and supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that arent working, where students arent getting the opportunities that they deserve. But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world and none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill (履行) your responsibilities, unless you show up to those schools, unless you pay attention to those teachers, unless you listen to your parents and put in the hard work it takes to succeed. Thats what I want to focus on today:
