We live in an uncertain world with all the technological advances we are experiencing, which means that there is a requirement for a change in mindset. In order to be on top of our game both personally and organizationally, we need to develop a growth mindset.A fixed mindset supposes that you have native abilities and are naturally clever or skilled in certain areas of life. When you receive information about how you have performed in a test or set of tasks, you may worry about how you are judged. Our parents probably said to us when we were young. Since you scored really well in the test, you must be clever. However, by being repeatedly told You are clever or You are really great at your job, a persons self-esteem (自尊) is actually damaged. The growth-mindset individuals view life as a series of exciting challenges and want to constantly learn. Brain activity occurs in this mindset when they receive information about what they could do better or improve. They do not view their abilities as fixed or as failure. Learning is king and the more they practise, the more they know they will succeed. What is important is giving praise around process and not around ability. For example instead of saying Since you scored really well in the test, you must be clever, we should say Since you got a great score, you must have tried really hard. This creates a challenge in individuals and encourages them to take on more tasks, responsibilities and risks.Listen from your own fixed mindset -for example, I cant do that. and answer with a growth-mindset response “I cant do that yet!” Remember, there is no such thing as failure and theres only learning. If you dont fail occasionally, you will never learn to change and grow.28. Whats the authors opinion of peoples mindsets?A. A fixed mindset helps to protect reputation.B. People should develop a growth mindset.C. People need to stand a fixed mindset.D. A growth mindset means no failure.29. Which judgement is more encouraging to those with a fixed mindset?A. You are great at your job.B. You have worked hard.C. You are clever.D. You are the best student.30. What do the growth mindset individuals support strongly?A. Viewing ability as a failure.B. Giving praise around ability.C. Keeping on learning.D. Taking more responsibility.31. What does the author mainly tell us in the last paragraph?A. Failure is the mother of success.B. There is no failure in the world.C. Its good to learn from others mistakes.D. Never do what you actually cant.DIts hard to avoid getting angry. Even those who are relatively easy-going find themselves angry from time to time. Consider the following example:Youve been under extraordinary amounts of stress lately and your daughter is late coming home from a date. As she walks in the door, you blow up at her, screaming that shes grounded for a month.Anger is a messenger that tells us the fact that what is occurring is wrong, according to our beliefs and standards. In any event, anger like any other emotion is not inherently(内在的) bad or wrong. Every feeling has a purpose and understanding what that is critical to knowing how to use it in a positive and constructive way.Good anger is beneficial and results in positive changes for all those concerned. It finds solutions, uplifts, protects, corrects, and enriches lives. Bad anger, on the other hand, makes matters worse. It can cause physical, emotional and / or psychological pain, cause fear, damage relationships, cause the destruction of property, send people to prison, destroy lives, and even kill.Ex: Your neighbors children ride their bikes On your lawn (草坪) even though youve asked them several times not to.Bad anger: You are very angry and want to go next door immediately and scold the parents, telling them that their kids are unruly and that if they were good parents they would teach their kids to respect other peoples property. You then want to demand that they pay for the damages done to your lawn and threaten them with a lawsuit(诉讼) if they dontGood anger: However, by giving yourself time to consider the real issues here, you determine that this is not necessarily an issue of bad parenting. Your real concern is the continued financial burden and time expended correcting the ongoing damage done by the children. The real issues, then, are your time and money. Having clearly identified them, you are now able to discuss those issues only, leaving any comments about your neighbors parenting abilities out of the discussion. In this regard, you can hopefully preserve a respectful relationship with them.32. What can be inferred from this passage?A. Anger is a messenger that tells us the truth.B. Good anger is beneficial and results from positive changes.C. Anger is unavoidable and natural, and using it in a good way is vital.D. Bad anger is bound to cause the destruction of property.33. What is necessary to know how to use anger positively according to Paragraph 3?A. Realizing what is going wrong.B. Knowing that being angry is bad.C. Finding out the purpose of your anger.D. Letting yourself calm down immediately.34. What is the main difference between good and bad anger in the lawn problem?A. If you talk to the parents.B. If you seek financial compensation.C. If you criticize the parents for bad parenting.D. If you mention the damage caused by the kids.35. What would be the best title for the text?A. Good anger and bad anger. B. Use your anger reasonably.C. Control your anger. D. Bad anger is harmful.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。6 cultural differences between China and the USLiving in a culture that is different from your own can be both an exciting and challenging experience.
