2、Research, claim that the UNWTO originated from the International Union of Official Tourist Publicity Organizations (IUOTPO). The First International Congress of National Tourism Bodies, meeting in London, decides to create a new international non-governmental organization to replace the Internationa

3、l Union of Official Tourist Propaganda Organizations (IUOTPO), established in 1934.(1946) The United Nations, following an IUOTO initiative, declares 1967 International Tourism Year , with the slogan Tourism, Passport to Peace. ? ? ?The Intergovernmental Conference in Sofia (Bulgaria) and the United

4、 Nations General Assembly press for the creation of an intergovernmental organization on independent tourism.(1969) The WTO General Secretariat is set up in Madrid on 1 January. The agreement is signed for WTO to become an executing agency of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), carrying

Its purpose is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its socia

7、l, cultural, political and economic value. The event seeks to address global challenges outlined in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals. World Tourism Day theme and official World Tourism Day the

8、me and official celebrationscelebrations WTD is celebrated by events around the themes selected by the UNWTO General Assembly, on the recommendation of the UNWTO Executive Council. While UNWTO invites people of all ages and backgrounds to hold and take part in celebrations in their respective countr

9、y or holiday destination, official WTD celebrations take place in a UNWTO Member State, on the basis of geographic rotation. At local level . Mayors message on the role of his/her town or village as a tourist destination . . Opening pl

18、aces of interest to tourism normally closed to the public . . Festivals, processions, concerts, folk shows and gastronomic shows . What kind of photos are we looking for ? We are looking for pictures that capture how the tourism sector is implementing new ideas to increase energy efficiency and the

19、use of renewable energy in its operations. Photos which are showing how tourism is bringing modern and clean energy to local communities. Photos that could also capture how you, as a tourist, are taking concrete actions towards a more sustainable tourism sector. Use?of?photographs?by? UNWTO Winning

20、photos will be displayed on the UNWTO website. The Organization reserves the right to use submitted photos, without copyright or any restriction, for display and promotion purposes, in its printed and online publications and communication material. First prize is a 7-day trip to a Spanish city to be

21、 determined, valid for six months consisting of: Two airline tickets in economy class with restrictions (non-refundable) from the winners hometown to the city selected by State Secretariat of Tourism in Spain. 7 nights in a double room, including breakfast, in a hotel establishment with a four-star rating or better, in the Spanish city selected. The airline tickets must be issued and the hotel reservation must be finalized before the deadline. Otherwise, the winner forfeits all right
