11、Japanized over time.Sukiyaki (牛肉火锅)(牛肉火锅) A nabe dish prepared with thinly sliced meat, vegetables, mushrooms, tofu and so on. The pieces of food are dipped into a raw egg before eaten. Tempura(天妇罗)(天妇罗) Tempura is seafood, vegetables, mushrooms and other pieces of food coated with tempura batter an
12、d deep fried. Tempura was introduced to Japan by the Portuguese(葡萄牙人) in the 16th century, but has become one of Japans most famous dishes internationally. 4. Etiquette and tabooJapanese Table Manners In Japan, some restaurants and private homes have low tables and cushions on the floor, rather than
13、 Western style chairs and tables. These are usually found on tatami floors. Itadakimasu and Gochisosama In Japan, you say itadakimasu (I gratefully receive) before eating, and gochisosama (deshita) (Thank you for the meal) after finishing the meal. Some Table Rules Blowing your nose in public, and e
14、specially at the table, is considered bad manners. It is considered good manners to empty your dishes to the last grain of rice. Talking about toilet related and similarly unappetizing topics during or before a meal is not appreciated by most people. Unlike in some other parts of East Asia, it is considered bad manner to burp.
